Iron Man needs to get back in the suit for another solo film, not mad on The Avengers stuff, I'll watch them but love Rob Downey in his own vehicles. & throwing in as it's a nerdy thread (even though I consider myself a geek not a nerd) The new Transformers film better pull it back out of the bag as the last few have slid heavily downwards. Optimus and BumbleBee are awesome. :D" I'm always nervous for sequels of good films to be honest, but I think that Ryan Reynolds will make it brilliant regardless. I love Iron Man but Iron Man 3 was god awful in my opinion. When it comes to Transformers - I hate the movies. I much prefer the animated TV show. | |||

Ryan Reynolds had me from the first time I saw him show up in Blade Trinity, he had me rolling with laughter in that film. When I found out he was playing Deadpool, I will admit, I had a man moment occur in my trousers... He just cracks me up. It's a tough act to follow, agreed, also nervous, but agree again, he has that certain something that no matter what the vehicle, he can carry it well. Yeah, Iron Man 3 was weak and a bit of hard work, but it had a few moments worth watching it for. Iron Man 2 and 3 are mediocre, all of the Avengers films are just.... awful, Captain America sequels..you just want to yell that the horse is dead, flogging it will get you nowhere.. It's funny that these should be labelled as "geek" movies - maybe times have changed. Geeks used to be, what was traditionally referred to as the intelligensia, but now it seems not. The character they have in these new movies isn't great at all and she does very little for the story (especially in BvS where she figures out Lexs plans half an hour after the audience does lol) In regards to the "Superman killing" and "it's not Superman" thing, this is Superman at the start of his "career", this is his 1st day as Superman and isn't yet the Superman we know and love. I had no problem with him killing Zod considering Zod was about to kill innocent people. You see how emotionally distraught Superman is about having to kill the only other living Kryptonian. Read any of the comics and he never kills anyone even at the beginning of his career as Superman as he makes a point to only ever protect and not kill. That's why fans were disappointed. It was written absolutely terribly and there was literally no way that the actors could redeem the messed up script because they also had terrible direction Tbh alot of comic book movies are very different to their comic counterparts. Imo, considering how much hate Snyder and DC have been getting lately, I think MoS is an amazing film. I personally think that the "reborn" Superman we see in Justice League is going to be more like the Superman we all know and love" Granted they are, but to change a characters entire premise and nature? That is something else! I could forgive the fact that his cape wasn't formed of his baby blanket, but him killing someone? Nope. I don't think so. With how boring these scripts have been from DC, I think it will be another one to toss into the heap of other adaptation failures. They can't seem to find the balance to adapt properly let alone bring in a balance of action, thick story and humour like Marvel does. | |||
"For me its: Marvel: Captain America Winter Soldier, closely followed by the first Guardians of the Galaxy DC: Dark Knight & Man of Steel A lot of people have been choosing Winter Soldier this evening. I agree with all choices other than Man of Steel but I think that's because I compared it to the comic books too much (I ranted about it for three hours after the movie finished) For me, MoS is one of the best. Personally I don't get why people dislike it? The way it brings Superman into the "modern" world is great. I personally love Clark/Kal's personal struggle where on one hand he has a dad that wants him to inspire the people of earth and another that doesn't think the they are ready for someone with Clarks powers, and he has to find the balance between those 2 which ends up being Superman. Because it was so wrong compared to the comics! I mean the biggest mistake is that he killed someone! Plus on top of that the script was actually terrible. Lois Lane is not supposed to be a damsel but she was. Henry Cavill and Amy Adams are amazing actors but even they couldn't redeem it. Henry Cavill actually seemed more like he was playing Spock as opposed to Superman, it was terrible! The way I look at it, it's like Disney. They have peaks of being absolutely amazing and releasing perfect unfaultable films, and then they crash for a few years and release garbage movies that nobody really cares for. It is a perfectly normal thing to happen with major companies. Marvel haven't always been perfect - did you see the original Iron Man and Hulk films in the 60's/70's? Absolutely laughable, even then. Right now they are going through a terrible period because they are thinking quantity as opposed to quality. They see Marvel spewing out blockbuster hits and they're trying to compete and failing because they don't have the writers and directors that Marvel have access to. DC have two teams working on films at the same time - Marvel have at least ten teams working on different films at the same time. In terms of that, it's down to money | |||
