Good evening fellow Avengers, it's time to assemble!

Last night we were discussing our favourite fandoms to belong to which led to some very interesting conversations.

Tonight I'm asking what your favourite modern superhero film is and why?

Mine would have to be the first Guardians of the Galaxy.

Oooh, tough call. Guardians of the Galaxy probably wins out for me. Saw that 8 times in the theatre

It was such a refreshing change of pace for the genre, the formula for which is maybe getting a bit tired.

Though I think the best superhero movies tend to be the ones that almost aren't superhero movies. Guardians is more space-fantasy, Logan (which really impressed me this year) is a western and The Dark Knight is crime drama.

Basically, I am groot

I'm going to go for Big Hero 6.

I loved San Fransokyo, Baymax is fantastic, the story had a brilliant balance of light and dark and the baddie was suitably scary. The only thing I would have liked to see improved was they could have made the other team members feel a little more necessary to the story.

They have found the perfect actor for Spider Man. I have always said that Tobey had the perfect Peter Parker but his Spider Man sucked, and Andrew Garfield was the other way round.

Personally i cannot take the DC universe seriously...hacked storylines thrown together to make a film... Suicide squad made me want to...well commit suicide. Letos joker is crap...only saving grace is Affleck does play an older, harder batman quite well..

GotG 2.. An amazing film, very fast paced some giggles but a trade off to get the storyline to where it needed to be to set up for infinity wars

But i also loved Captain America: Winter Soldier. Kept me gripped all the way through... but it may have been the excessive amount of black widow in her tight leather outfit dam scarlet johansson!

I thought you would have chosen Iron Man or Guardians as opposed to Winter Soldier! I am genuinely shocked!

I did say guardians first :p but yeah I've bugged up iron man to death, I can't express my love for those films and RDJ as Stark enough!

Winter soldier just really pleasantly surprised me "

I know you did my darling, but I am still shocked that you didn't even mention him at all!

Winter Soldier was good though...I may have a thing for Bucky. Can you cosplay him for me?

I think that she played it pretty well to be honest despite not having much screen time. I really do love her!

And don't worry haha! When I binge watch TV shows I have to make up nicknames for people. You should hear the names I had for characters in Breaking Bad"

GotG 2.. An amazing film, very fast paced some giggles but a trade off to get the storyline to where it needed to be to set up for infinity wars

And it was brilliant to see stan lees role get confirmed after all these years

I hated Affleck as Batman! I thought that the only good thing about Batman vs. Superman was Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther. I usually don't like him as an actor.

Oh no..that was the worst Lex ever lol...even smallvilles lex had 10 up on Jesse "

To me he was the most refreshing part of that film because it was a completely different take on him

"Are we going comic adaptations or does it have to strictly be superhero? Some of the aforementioned are antihero...

Either/or.

Yeah I noticed that, but I thought I would let it slide as I have a soft spot vigilantes etc. haha

I'm just a pedantic bitch.

I really love Kick Ass. And Big Hero 6.

And although it's not strictly fittting - Unbreakable for me is incredible. "

Haha! No need to worry, pedantic behaviour is never frowned upon when it comes to nerd play haha!

Kick Ass and Big Hero 6 are both amazing movies, and I want more of both haha!

I haven't watched Unbreakable in so long - it is an amazing movie though, I love Bruce Willis"

Didn't notice the other unbreakable mention!

"The X-men were always my favourite comics as a youngster , the latest films with the young X-men are very good , especially Days of Future Past ( the animated version from the 90's was a favourite ) Batman Returns with Michael Keaton or Dark Knight with Christian Bale. But if I had to choose one it would be Captain America - Winter Soldier at the minute but I think that will change when Infinity Wars comes out "

Winter Soldier was amazing...it made me fall in love with Bucky. Like I actually love him haha

Do you remember Shereen? She had that as a child and that is why she had a scarred face.

Cradley Heath

It's not exactly modern but it's certainly a comic book adaptation. One of my all time favourites is blade 2.

Amazing soundtrack, solid acting performances and with the exception of a little bit of dodgy cgi some incredibly technical and well choreographed fight scenes.

Maybe not as sophisticated as some of the other suggestions on the thread but pure badass entertainment.
