Gym fit types... fuck off before we start, you'll only make me a jelly bastard

Been making an effort to get back to a former glory from years ago. I'd put a lot of weight on and a lot of inches on the waistline. Was just showering after tonights workout and it's nice feeling muscle mass building back up, my arms are toning, my legs are feeling great and I'd describe my current feeling as "powerful"

I still have my belly despite it shrinking and my growing pectorals still have a layer of softness on top but all in all I'm feeling so much better than I was 6 months ago.

At this point in time? Not very.

I've barely set foot in the gym this year, due to starting a new job and working loads of extra hours in the evenings. I've also slacked off on the cycling over the last six to eight weeks due to a run of crippling headaches (turns out I needed glasses. Who knew?)

However...

I started back at the gym on Saturday and got back in the saddle today. Give me another six to eight and I'll be sorted!

I used to run around 7 miles every 2 days, used to be able to do 13 miles easy. But I pretty much stopped completely by 2012. I did my first 3 mile run on Sat and when I was done I actually cried partly out of joy; because it felt good to be getting back to myself and how bad I'd let things get through depression and stress.

Well done op!

I wouldn't say I'm 'happy' with my body - thousands of thread veins, squidgy tits, jelly belly and currently heavier than I'd like to be - but I'm far more excepting of it since joining fab! Seeing other 'normal' women like me in clubs has made me realise I don't have to have a 'perfect' body to be attractive to (some) guys - I just have to be confident with what I've got!

I certainly feel better/sexier now than I did when I finished with my ex nearly five years ago - even though I was slimmer then. He had an uncanny knack of making me feel fat, ugly and useless! I'll never let one person affect my self esteem so much again!

Well done op - enjoy the 'new you' and surround yourself with positive people - it makes the world of difference!

Pretty happy.

I have a bit of chub round my stomach and butt, but I don't have any stretchmarks and I'm a comfortable 12-14.

It took me ages to really accept my boobs as they're small for my frame, but they're perky, sensitive and a nice handful.

Earlier this year I decided I wanted a waist smaller than my inside leg. I drastically overhauled my diet and began walking a couple of miles every day.

A month later I was down to a 34 waist! Success! Then I realised my inside leg was actually 34, not the 36 I had thought.

Two more inches to go!

I'm the happiest I've been with it in 20 yrs. I'd like larger boobs with a bit more perk and a little less sag. I'd also like to lose the flabby bit from my c-section.

I have days where I can see I'm bigger than the few previous days, then I normally have a mega poo and then have plenty of room in my size 10's

Ok so I'm "gym fit" but I'm still not totally happy with my body. I was painfully skinny for many years and decided to make lifestyle changes to address that. It massively boosted my confidence, clothes fit better and being fairly fit and strong just comes in handy sometimes. I'm much happier than I was and my point is that anyone whose thinking of adopting a healthier lifestyle and getting in better shape should go for it, it's probably the best decision I ever made

You know what, I'm half gym fit I suppose but that doesn't make me any happier with myself.. I lost a load of weight so there's loose bits and squidgy boys still and in the mirror, I always see the fat bloke. I'm not stupid, I know I can't buy 30in waist jeans and be fat.. but its still there

If anything, I think I've become less actually satisfied the more in shape I've got.

Seeing as I've lost 5 stone since I turned 40, healthy diet and cycling did it for me, I'm happy with my body.

Still want to tone up but keep picking up injuries when I use the gym.

The 1 down side is I've lost my chubby face which has left me with loose skin and I feel like I look worse in the face, which has actually made me a bit self conscious and feeling down about it.

I wouldn't say I'm completely happy with my body but it could be worse - which is a huge improvement from 10 years ago when I couldn't even look at myself without feeling revolted.

What I really hate - because it's beyond my control - are signs of ageing. Gravity taking effect, lines, wrinkles etc., and the fact I seem to be perpetually doing my back in

From the waist down I'm happy. I have strong and well defined legs. However I like my food so I struggle around the torso despite doing a lot of (mostly cardio) exercise. I run twice a week, I swim twice a week and cycle 2-3 times a week depending on my shifts. Just can't shift that gut though.

Just where I need to be.

I was not too happy about my body a couple weeks ago.I felt bigger than I have ever been. So started excercising more and eating better.I'm trying to shift weight around my middle which seems to be the hardest area.

I'm happy with my body at the moment but I will always feel like there are areas that I need to improve on .

I don't hate my body but it's not the best version of me it's been. I wish I could loose weight like I did when I was younger. Despite lots of exercise and thoughtful eating, I remain a cuddly 18. I'll keep going though, it doesn't alter anything I do.

I'm getting there. I'm the fittest and bendiest I've been in a long long time but I've still got about a stone to lose before I'm back where I want to be.

I was never happy when I was slimmer but now I'd kill to get back to the point where I just thought I was fat!

I'm kinda ok with mine, I've had 6 babies so it's not bad. I'd love to be more toned but I like Oreos too much and I can't be arsed with the gym. I'm just covering it with tattoos, everything looks better when it's colourful

Other people don't seem to have a problem with it so it must be ok.

"Gym fit types... fuck off before we start, you'll only make me a jelly bastard

You look amazing in your pics. I think you're right, we should accept our bodies and be more confident with what we have to offer. "

Thanks - I love your pics too! but yeah - pining for what we don't have isn't the key to happiness I think! Xx

I have worked on my body twice before and twice fell back off the wagon quite dramatically..unfortunately I am one who eats their emotions siigh. Finally working on that aspect.

It was stopping me from enjoying this site let alone meeting and being open socially and sexually- just wanted to hide!

I got a little push from an amazing person in my life, never expected it from her! Now back on it! Clean eating, Sunday night food prep, and gym 6days a week- cardio and heavy weights-love a good deadlift!

Have shifted 10kgs since Feb! I feel like my old self. Still got a long way to go!! Another 20! The difference though to my mental state is priceless.

Good luck to all who are working on loving themselves, whatever your size and shape!x

I'm happy with my body right now. I'm exercising more and eating better. I'm also in a good place mentally and that has a massive effect on how I perceive myself. I've wasted a lot of energy over the years hating what I see in the mirror due to low self-esteem. That got tiring. Shaking off the negative feelings and concluding that I don't look too bad has been a massive boost.

My shape doesn't bother me; the weight does, as it's painful on my joints and unhealthy. I'm not unhappy about being over weight, but I'm not overjoyed about it.

There and to the left a bit

Can honestly say having lost three and a half stone in the last two years that at almost 52 I'm probably the happiest with my body that I've ever been. When I was much younger I was skinny as a rake and even in my 20s looked a lot younger than I actually was.

I then ballooned from my mid-20s to the point I was clinically obese and actually looked more pregnant than my partner did when she was carrying our child, and stayed that way until two years ago when I finally got the kick up the backside I needed to do something about it.

During all that time I adopted an 'I don't care' attitude, and whilst I didn't beat myself up about it, never thought of myself as attractive in any way.

Having lost that weight, and whilst acknowledging there's still work to be done, I can probably for the first time in my life, look in the mirror and actually say with confidence a relatively attractive man is looking back at me.

"Now I'm back to a size 16-18 I'm quite happy on myself but I'm wanting to be sterilised and they won't do it until I've lost another 2st so gotta keep shedding the fat for longer yet

I'm sorry but going by your pictures your not a size 16, and in no way at a size 16 would your GP tell you to loose 2 stone to be sterilised! Total fabrication "

I don't think this comment was called for, and on reading it wonder why on a thread where people are being vulnerable in their posts you thought it necessary (whatever your opinion) to publicly accuse someone of lying when you can't possibly have all the facts. It's a public forum, you've the right to post and comment, absolutely but if we're making judgements I think it's worth noting you've laid yourself open to being judged as rather rude.

Just my opinion.

.

My happiness with my body fluctuates frequently.

At my biggest I've been a good few stones over my current weight. Around late November I was the slimmest I had been for a long tome but then an op meant I was at home and comfort eating so my weight has crept up again. It's difficult! I love so much about it but wish there was less mass.

I'm learning to accept my body now for what it is and try and give myself the best chance possible in life to be healthy and happy. For me that means tackling my weight, power walking with a huge dog until I'm doing park runs etc. And having a healthy mentality towards food.

For a 50yo I'm very happy with my body but I'm not obsessed with it.

It's certainly not my selling point but my good fitness means I can live a carefree active lifestyle, that makes me very grateful.

Boobs have not really got smaller but sag more, bingo wings and stomach have "paunchy" skin that I'm struggling to firm up but I'm working on it

Yeah it's not easy firm up the loose skin, especially after pregnancies and age.

But well definitely healthier and we can fit into nice outfits now

i used to be happy being cuddly, now i'm pushing myself to get more muscular and it's happening (i easily build muscle). and mentally i'm pushing myself there now too and enjoying that.

so fairly happy with my body, just want something different now. doubt i'll be athletic with washboard abs, and not hoping for that, but i want my strength back.

I wouldn't mind having had bigger boobs, and I've an appendix scar that resembles the jokers grin (I think my surgeon may have been hungover )... But other than that I'm very comfortable in my own skin... Unless I've sunburn...

I have my fair share of scars too, pin scars from where my foot was surgically corrected, TB jab scar , from an incident where glad shards went into my forearm, some former wrist burns from the range in the chippy I worked at after college, my c-section and from my lumpectomy to name the worst ones

I don't mind my scars though. I quite like scars on people in general as they each tell a story about the person, same as tattooes they too always have their own story behind them

Not very, currently.

I lost 2.5 st last year and got back to a size I was fairly happy with (still a 14-16). Then due to stress (emotional eater here) I have put nearly a stone back on. It bothers me, but can't seem to kick it again currently x
