I use to live near there and remember it being all over the news. It's made me feel physically sick.

We have a girl also, it really scares you to think these horrible things can happen. You can't help but put yourself in the parents position watching that tonight.

Thought the lady who was in shameless (can't remember her name) played the part very well as the councillor.

Near Liverpool

A paedophile is a paedophile no matter what race. What was highlighted was the failings of government run departments which were too eager to brush it aside, and their complaints weren't taken seriously enough. When it was brought up by the sexual health nurse. It made my blood boil, that nobody saw anything wrong. I pitty all the victims whether they were vulnerable or not. These evil bastards who think they've got a god given right that they think their permitted to carry out such horrific acts, they need to have their cock and balls cut off. If they're foreign citizens, then they should be deported and never allowed back too.

Its still happening up and down the country. Dont think its stopped cause it hasnt. Next time you see a bunch of young girls d*unk on the street ask yourself were they got the booze from. Glad it highlights that the men get young girls to act as madams for the others. That is quite common

They also get young boys to bring them girls. The girls trust the boys and go with them to hotels, where the men are waiting.

Very uncomfortable watch, frustrating to see the naivety of the girls, the way the father initially reacted, the madness of the police, social services etc but most of all the pure evil of the men involved and how they groomed and manipulated the girls involved.

Hard watch but going to stick with it as I have a daughter and a granddaughter and these lessons need to be learned.

So sad and frightening.

I have a friend who works in child protection. When this first came out she reckoned it was the tip of the iceberg. About a year ago she had ptsd after one of the paedophiles she had helped catch hung himself while on the phone to her. Just fucking horrific all round.

"If the story being portrayed is correct thank goodness for the lady working in sexual health and her determination to be heard"

It is sadly very true and very accurate

And stories like this are happening still

Attitudes are changing, thankfully, but they are ingrained in some areas, so stopping this takes too long

Lifestyle choices and child prostitutes really don't exist when taking about minors.... They are all symptoms of abuse happening to that child

I'm in two minds whether to watch this or not, reading the news reports about it was bad enough.

Sadly this is neither new or isolated, when I was a teenager, the girls in the local children's home used to tell us how they used to earn money from the owners of the indian restaurant and stories of drugs and alcohol. Being a naive teenager I never knew how much to believe or really what to make of it all, but since this all come to light it's I've often thought back with much regret about the conversations I had with them

Many Indian restaurants advertise as Indian restaurants with the establishment actually being owned and run by Pakistanis selling Halal food. Being half Indian I don't eat halal and always confirm before visiting said establishments.

Many people are ignorant to this fact.

So tragic and very upsetting watching some scenes but I only wish this injustice is never allowed to happen again.

Those police officers and the CPS should hang their head in shame for their failings. I cannot imagine the pain and trauma those children had to go through for so many years and probably still suffering today.

Read an article about it earlier, apparently it makes for harrowing viewing. Although people aren't bad by virtue of their ethnicity certain deeply ingrained cultural dogmas breed and pervade that very sad and damaging social problem.

Not helped by an institutional paranoia regarding being seen as racist for holding the culprits to account or even seriously investigating or questioning the accused.

Nothing but respect and admiration for those who fought to shed light on the issues and hold those responsible to account.. although read a while ago some councils have granted some of the alleged assailant anonymity and have effectively silenced the media from identifying them.. it was implied for purposes of"cultural" sensitivity or preserving "good community relations".

Sad and horrible. The drama at least exposes what happened , educate viewers and hopefully will serve to prevent it happening again or on such a horrifying scale.

Unfortunately some parts of the establishment seem to have adopted a bizarre blanket policy of making it almost taboo to investigate culturally borne problems within some ethnic communities, instead electing to downplay and trivialise them , villifying victims and appointing the accused who happens to be from a minority as almost saintly figures, and virtually beyond reproach for fear of a fall out of accusations of institutional xenophobia otherwise.

I hope nothing on this scale ever happens again and the communities that spawn that type of criminality start to play more of an active role in challenging it and ultimately preventing it.

The scale of it is utterly shocking. The establishment were aware of it for years and allowed it to happen through inaction after inaction.

"Read an article about it earlier, apparently it makes for harrowing viewing.

I'm from an ethnic minority and exposing these criminals is not racist and ppl who commit such crimes should feel the full force of the law regardless of their ethnicity or religion

It's not helped by people who play the race card like it's going out of fashion....if complaints were investigated on an equal basis regardless of age, religion or ethnicity then there should be no fear of cultural repercussions.

As far as I'm concerned....no culture allows this sort of criminal activity and anyone that excuses it as such needs to be challenged

"...I'm from an ethnic minority and exposing these criminals is not racist and ppl who commit such crimes should feel the full force of the law regardless of their ethnicity or religion"

Speaking in 2013 in response to the sentencing of seven muslims in Oxford Dr Taj Hargey, imam of the Oxford Islamic Congregation, said race and religion were inextricably linked to the recent spate of grooming rings in which Muslim men have targeted under-age white girls.

He said in mosques across the country... the men are taught that women are “second-class citizens, little more than chattels or possessions over whom they have absolute authority,".

“The view of some Islamic preachers towards white women can be appalling. They encourage their followers to believe that these women are habitually promiscuous, decadent, and sleazy — sins which are made all the worse by the fact that they are kaffurs or non-believers.

“Their dress code, from miniskirts to sleeveless tops, is deemed to reflect their impure and immoral outlook. According to this mentality, these white women deserve to be punished for their behaviour by being exploited and degraded.” Such cases can only be prevented in the future if Britain abandons the blinkers of political correctness, he concluded.

But don't hold your breath on that one as it also transpires that many of the VICTIMS had to leave the country because their abusers would follow them around the country if they tried to escape from their slave masters!?

So it just might have dawned on some by now that the grooming/trafficking/raping/gang raping/abusing/paedophile cowards are themselves...the racists.

Started watching it last night and was not easy viewing for me. Happened alot where I grew up in Birmingham. I lived in young people hostels as a teenager and some of the girls I lived with had this kind of stuff happening to them. These men would be literally parked up outside the hostel waiting for girls to come out. A lot of the girls truly believed these men were their boyfriends and trusted them.

What's worse about the whole issue is that the relevant authorities didn't persue the claims because they didn't want to upset the ethnic communities. What a load of bollocks!!! Nobody is above the law!!!

Unfortunately though with police budjets being slashed I have friends who work for Greater Manchester and Merseyside police as detective inspectors and they said manchester and Liverpool are already lawless.

Tried to find it on kodi and youtube but to no avail. You could see she had the passion and empathy. ..as I was Googling they where talking about a OBE for her...as stated already I would like to think that Tracy the sex worker was first in the queue for any recognition if gongs are given out.

So called services to help the vulnerable and no one works together.. Passing the buck.

What makes this so sad is that so many people, myself included believe in the system and that it will help those who need helping, but it makes you doubt all of that. I know that other very high profile cases over recent years have also thrown that into chaos too but it's just awful that the people who you put that trust into can be so dismissive. All we can hope that lessons have been learnt and the huge errors that were made are dealt with and acted on.

"I'm in two minds whether to watch this or not, reading the news reports about it was bad enough.

Just to clarify any ignorance the restaurant in question is Pakistani not Indian

Sorry? The restaurant I was referring to advertises itself as an Indian restaurant, I have no idea what geographical area the owners hail from

Many Indian restaurants advertise as Indian restaurants with the establishment actually being owned and run by Pakistanis selling Halal food. Being half Indian I don't eat halal and always confirm before visiting said establishments.

The Police used to take charging decisions and the CPS had to run the case regardless. That authority was taken away from the Police and the CPS won't prosecute anything that they consider stands less than a 50% chance of success. Otherwise it makes their success rate look bad....

Since I have read up on this and your correct it is enormous!

And as stated a pedophile is a pedophile what ever colour!

But after seeing this and reading up it does seem it is pandemic within the Pakistanis community....and that is not said to start a racist onslaught, I think it needs looking into as it is totally out of hand.

I recall this hitting the news when it all came to light. Unfortunately this still goes on today.

I'm just totally disgusted at the treatment by the police and other so called professionals towards the girls.

No support for these girls at all. How can people defend these monsters in court and try to place all the blame on the girls.

Far too many government and other agencies turning a blind eye.

These girls have to live the rest of their lives with what has happened to themand the effects it has on all those around them.

I watched it all remembering when it all hit the news. Was appalled at the way those young girls were treated by the very services that were meant to protect them.

There wasn't a lot of emphasis put on the men who commit the crimes within the programme. Whether that's due to political correctness I don't know, but the way the Pakistani community and a lot of the Asian communities view the western women needs serious attention.

The sexual health team were amazing and deserve medals. And that woman detective was what the police should be about.

Gritty to watch but should be talked about more openly x

I thought it was excellently put together. Issues like this need to be highlighted and I thought the show did a great job of highlighting the issues within the policing authorities, the social services red tape, issues with safeguarding children boards, multi agency working and general community engagement between all relevant bodies.

If it helps one victim come forward today or in future then it has served its purpose
