What's wrong with just the simple 'bread roll'? It's become so much trickier since moving oop norf. Butty, barm, muffin, cob, tea cake. It's a ruddy bread roll. (And breathe Heels, just breathe). |

Bap = large soft bread roll
Butty = sandwich with sliced bread
Bun = bread based but more sweet than savoury
Cob = crusty roll
Roll = smaller soft bap
There, that's cleared that up

"Butty or teacake lol
No! Teacakes have got currents in
Bread cake when it's empty, Butty when it's a sarnie.
Lol not when you go into a chippy in Lancashire and ask for a chip teacake "
You'd get a blank look in Yorkshire!
A teacake and a Pudding, what's all that about?? |

Steak is main course, pudding is for afters. Teacakes are toasted with currents covered in melted butter. No self respecting chippy can mix all that stuff up!
When we next visit Lancashire we'll bring a Red Cross parcel for you poor souls |

On the gentle southern coast butties are two slices of white bread with chips or fishfingers in, a roll is small bread dough, crusty, a bap is a slightly larger, softer bread roll, a bun is sweet and sandwiches are served with crusts off and cut finger sized.....or so my maid tells me
