I've got a glass?
If I have, give me a shot of tall and sexy with a dash of short and cute. Top up with a _edhead.
It's half a glass of water, its up to me to fill it up again |

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you) |
I have a very positive attitude and always try to look for the good in any situation
I find pessimistic people draining so it's easier to try and spread my happiness all over everyone I meet |

I'm realistically optimistic. I do try to be optimistic about most things, but also know that what I would hope to be the best isn't always going to happen. X |

"Naturally optimistic (it's just my default world view and always has been) but with a healthy dose of logical thought verging on cynicism. The two balance out to make me a realist."
A very balanced point of view |

"I'm a realist.
I always think of optimism and pessimism both as imposing a viewpoint on the facts rather than taking the facts as they are. "
This is a great summary |

I'm not sure I entirely agree with that...that reads to me like: "accept the hand you're dealt".
Well those types of people get butt fucked and trod on.
I'm optimistic but realise I won't always have things my way or get what I want or get to where I want to be...but that doesn't mean I'd just accept it.
I'd try my hardest to get it. Whatever "it" is.

Brexit
Won't ever be as bad as some
Say
Doubtful will be the cure for all ill as others hope
Not sure how I'm going to be butt fucked with this objectively reasonable perspective?
Of course it can only ever be a metaphor as mathematically half empty is zero or empty I could only ever use the correct semantics which would be
My glass is half full
My glass is half way towards empty neither of which are a positive or negative point of view xxx
Ironically in some cases being more focused upon negatives can indeed be a positive if said obsession prevents the negatives from materialising x

"Definitely a pessimist, there's nothing good do why bother lol
That's fatalist. Pessimism is 'what does it matter cos it's gonna break anyway'
Nihilist is "I've broken it myself" " I've no idea what you just said |

No. There's a difference between realism and "accepting the hand you're dealt." Realism doesn't require you to accept, it doesn't have to affect your drive. It affects how you see the present.
I'm talking about perception and you're conflating it with goal orientation. I can be realistic in my perception of the facts and still have the drive to affect how those facts impact my future, my outcome. That differs from optimists and pessimists who perceive the facts as either positive or negative, regardless of their goal orientation. |

Likely to be topped up soon
Why do you say the most innocent things and make them sound like filth? "

"It depended how the glass started!
If it was empty and liquid was added, it's half full
If it was full and liquid was removed, it's half empty.
"
That's incorrect
A glass can not be half empty empty equals zero half zero is
Zero
A glass can indeed be halfway towards empty x |

Fuck the glass. Don't let the fortunes or misfortunes that befall you define or shape you. Strap me to the mast of this ship and plot a course straight for the eye of the storm whilst I blow kisses and gasp for air among the engulfing waves. Err what was the question again? Oh yeah make mine another double please |

I always try and put a positive spin on things but I'm not so happy clappy that I can't see when to put the positivity to one side and take a negative situation on the chin. |

Which was what was implied in the context of the title of the thread |
