Did anyone see Piers Morgan this morning talking to a Police force regarding the adoption of Police Baseball caps which are gender neutral?
Do you think the Police need to adopt Non Binary gender neutral uniform?
Baring in mind it was already personal choice as to what uniform the individual has to wear.
For me I quite like the tradition of the helmet but it does not look that practical.

"I think police wearing baseball caps would take away some of their authority. "
I agree, baseball caps are far too casual for someone of authority. In sunnier climates it may make more sense but no need in the UK |

Helmets make officers easier to identify.
Imagine teaching children that if they get separated from their parents to go to somebody in a black baseball cap could be anyone! |

It comes down to practicality really
Parts like SO19 yes i can see them using caps..for ease when active.
Beat officers and patrol units not quite so.
But then again in places like the U.S most officers dont wear hats and have quite a demanding presence when needed.
Personally the uniform isnt the issue its the powers they have...or what they dont have. |

The whole non-binary thing is false news spread by the right wing press. The police have been wearing baseball caps for years.
I'm not worried about what the police look like, as long as what they wear offers protection and let's them do their jobs. Performance is more important than uniform |

it's not false news it was released as an official statement on Northants Police website.
"Further engagement has also shown that having to choose gender based headgear is a barrier to the non binary transgender community" |

One advantage for the officers that wear glasses, it keeps some of the rain off the glasses so they can see. |

He's very fond of thins American including it would seem, baseball caps. The cone shaped helmets of old are designed to absorb and deflect blows the the head. |

The old police helmets had many uses - they had straps inside that could be held and the helmet used as defence against a knife attack, and they could be stood on to help get over fences etc. They also made the wearer look taller and more imposing. My Dad used to keep his sandwiches under his when he was a copper in the 50's |
