It's all subjective isn't it. One of my issues with modern music is I loathe repetition and artists like Rhianna do pretty much nothing else.

I still find some gems every now and then; I'm currently exploring 70s funk.

I mean it's going to be shit if you're hardly looking past number 50 on the top charts.

I'll concede that modern popular music is repetitive though

There and to the left a bit

There's a lot of rubbish around for sure, but there was in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s etc too...you only have to look at the likes of Biffy Clyro, Kasabian, Twenty One Pilots, Royal Blood and loads more, for evidence that there is still good music out there. Add to that established artists like Green Day, Madness and others that are still putting good music out, and it's not as bad as it might seem at first glance.

It's not, there's loads of great music out there. You just have to look for it; which with YouTube and Bandcamp is now fairly easy to do

I used to love Kasabian and Biffy Clyro, but their latest stuff has just become really poppy and generic. Puzzle was a great album though.

If you're only looking at the Top 20 each week, you'll struggle to find "good music" - But of course, "good music" is all about your own personal preference.

I don't like the majority of poppy, mainstream music and at the same time, some won't like listening to Parkway Drive or KSE, which are two of my favorite bands.

Use the internet and you'll find some great music from right now.

3 reasons.

Firstly you're not a teenager anymore. When you've got to a certain age you start to compare what you're listening to, to something you've heard before. Considering all the genres there has been, it's easy to do.

Second. Most mainstream music is created via the samey software. So the beats all sound very similar. Effects are added too, as this is a tech and CGI world now.

Third. You're only looking at record company influenced chart stuff.
