I like people that tell me when I'm being stupid. I think it shows a certain closeness, like they know me well enough to say that. 
Not so keen on people that sugar coat stuff or give cheesy compliments like "ooh your new haircut makes you look like you're 28" 
What do you prefer? |

haha.
i prefer the creepiness of a (not) genuine compliment. my whole value and self worth is based on these compliments and i screenshot them and put them in a folder for looking at when i need an ego boost.
i only don't like it when a guy does this if he gives similar compliments to munters, then i find it offensive. |

sorry, i laughed coz of something mostly topic unrelated and then i was off in fun land (which is part of my imagination and how i deal with life).
i'd rather people give me proper advice but not in a harsh way (like call me a dickhead but not a stupid one). |

My grampy was from yorkshire, he never sugar coated anything!
My mum didn't either.
Sometimes i wish they had as i'm quite sensitive and, on a bad day, close to the knuckle comments can knock your confidence.

My friends are blunt to the point of offensive, which sometimes makes me go and then I realise they are right!
They're definitely not ones for sugar coating, but then if they say something complimentary I know that's meant too. |

I don't mind spiders. So no need to start making smores! 
But if I've spent all day cooking, even though I hate cooking and I know I'm shit at it, just to make someone a meal that I hope they enjoy, it would be nice for that person to just smile and say thank you instead of telling me I'm a shit cook and I shouldn't have bothered (even if it might be true)
But there are times when that kind of glossing isn't welcome or helpful. I respect people who can read a situation and respond as appropriate, rather than be brutally honest when it does no good or blow smoke when the truth is more helpful. |

Couldn't agree more. Sometimes being truthfully honest isn't the best way to act in certain situations and those that do think honesty is the best policy often lack empathy in my opinion. |
