Ok so I seem to have faced a lot of liers this week, (one major one) all which I've caught out and has now meant I won't meet them. I have a question are most people programmed that way that they truly believe telling you what they think you want to hear will mean they get what they want in end? It's baffling me as I'm always honest and upfront what I want and yet they still feel need to lie? X

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Sometimes liars DO get what they want in the end, which is why they lie.

It is frustrating. Especially people who lie about things they don't need to.

Maybe they just want to maximize their chances of meeting?

It is easier to lie.

You get what you want (in theory.)

Obviously lying doesn't work. It usually destroys exactly what you are trying to get

After being married to a compulsive liar for 22 years I can say I don't know what drives them to lie. The truth soon comes out. X

I think some people lie to give themselves the illusion of the lie, more than the person that they are telling the lie to.

Creatures of habit, they don't check themselves nor deal with the underlying insecurities or issues

Yes, when someone starts believing their own lies I think they may be beyond help.

Lying and time wasting seems to be a game and tactic for some.

My guess, many are attached and bored. Rather than be a grown up and address their issues, come here and see it as a bit of harmless flirting, forgetting there's someone else at the end of it.

Once I've caught a liar out they're gone. No time for that nonsense.

I don't like being lied to op. And as frustrating as is, it will happen. youve already answered your own question.

They only want to get what they want.

"... You can't handle the truth!.."

Sorry couldn't help myself, just seemed like a prime opportunity.

I don't know why people lie on here. I've never lied to get my wicked way with someone, seems counter productive.

Depends on what they lie about. Maybe they want to be discreet.

One guy I had arranged to meet said he fell off scaffolding and couldn't contact me as he was in hospital. I met him a couple of weeks later and he was still bruised. Sometimes crazy sounding 'lies' are the truth.
