Just for fun
So you have gon on a crooze but the ship has got in truball and sunk..
You wake up on a small basik island.
It's hot and sunny but you can see rain blowing in on the horizon
The island is 50meters by 50meters in size
Thar are 2 beach heads
Thar are 5 plane trees 1 coconut tree 1 banana tree and lots of bushess with big thik leeves.
And a small hill in the midall of it.
You then find the flowing things woshed up on the beaches....
A fall clear glass bottall of whiskey
A cigarette lighter
Sum wet cigarettes
A small metall bucket
A campus
A wet but ok map of the Atlantic Ocean
A box of sandwich bags
A 100 meter ball of string
A soot case you find
8 shirt
A magnifying glass
A flear gun with no flears in it
A blunt chizall
And a bag of 100 2intch nails
And a chiller box filed with 30 bags of crisps.
Wot wood you do to survive or even escape ????????? |

An island that is smaller than a football pitch well first I would jump up and down and scream that I'm fucked because there isn't going to be a lot on an island that small. |

Build a basic (temporary) shelter
Find some drinking water, if none available build a solar still out of the bucket and plastic bags
Build a fire pit - sort fire wood - get it going with the magnifier
Look for food sources (fish as well as coconuts and banana) Note: Coconut husk is a great material to use as tinder
Build a signal fire on top of the hill - collect green leaves as well as dry wood to create smoke.
Whilst this is all going off have the ciggies drying in the son to help keep hunger and mossies at bay at night.
Save the whiskey as an antiseptic in case of injury.
Think about building a boat long term using the shirts as a sail...
In the words of the song...
I WILL SURVIVE lol |

"Find a rock to sharpen the chisel on so I can use it to get some leaves off the trees to build a shelter.
Make a fire.
Find a score of water, if not pure boil in bucket."
how do you make the fire ?

Use the coconut husk as kindling and make a spark by hitting two rocks together or use the lighter if it works.
Or use the clear glass magnifying class and the sun. |

Okay...
I'd break off a few branches from the trees and drag them to the beach. I'd use the string to stitch the shirts together and tie them to the branches to make a mast and sail.
I'd inflate the sandwich bags and tie them to the suitcase to make it buoyant, fit the sail, load up with the crisps, whisky and the map and find my way back to the nearest mainland.
Easy |

I wouldn't know how to read a map of the ocean anyway. It might just be interesting to look at and pass some time. |

Plenty to eat, plenty to drink (coconut milk) and the Atlantic is very well travelled by merchant vessels. Use the magnifying glass to ignite some coconut husks and chuck on some banana leaves for a heavy smoke signal - sit back, drink the whisky and wait. |

"I would get the plane off the tree & use the map to fly home
Ha! Good thinking batman! "
That leaves 4 more planes still on the other 4 trees, so if I crash land again I can have another shot at it |

It's more likely to be the Pacific or Indian Ocean with coconut palms and banana bushes, but it would depend if a micro climate existed in the area. |

I can't swim all that well so I'd rather try and survive instead of definitely drowning.Plus there's stuff in the ocean that can eat me and I don't fancy being lunch for a sea creature |

Fire first (magnifying glass on coconut husk)
Work on a way to destile salt water into fresh (deep pit with a catch bowl...sun creates condensate water and tge cover drips clearish water into catch bowl for drinking)
Food, the sea can provide fish....set up a catch pond to make life easier (work smart not hard)
Each day sift through what rubbish the sea dumps...netting, empty containers...one mans junk is another's treasure!
Enough plastic bottles, netting will wash up over time.
Chop down a thick tree with plans for putting together a make shift catamran over time.
Keep busy and focused at the job in hand...surviving.

Use some of the whisky to light a fire, drink the rest, tear the bit
Of map with our island out, use some charcoal from the fire to scrawl message such as 'we're here, SOS', put it in empty whisky bottle, seal bottle with my knickers as a bung and chuck it in the sea! |

Focus on immediacy - need for pure water and shelter - then food. Water from rain or create condensation gear that will force condensation and collection of water, using plastics and the vessel, bucket. Make fire that needs dry wood stocks collected first and burnable materials, including dry grass etc to help light it - dry cigarettes could even be used for that. The hut might preserve dry wood and a flame. Light using magnifying glass - easiest or flint type rock sparks from knocking - second best or twirling wood fast using string to get flames - last choice.
Longer term rescue and escape - I'd prefer to wait and plan but be able to signal presence to ships etc using shirts and fire.
Assuming I can collect several litres of water per day and catch lots of fish, I fancy my chances more on the island than building an escape vessel. |
