But stupidly excited - I've been catching up watching the classic series so I'll be ready on time - only 2 episodes and FWWM to go!

Aye but it gives all the all the answers away so if you do it ruins the 'suspense' of the original whodunnit!

I've read the Secret Diary of Laura Palmer (which is quite naughty in places, made a simple boy like me blush! ) but still to read "A Secret History"

Secret History is good too -- I hadn't meant that though, SDOLP and the The Autobiography of F.B.I. Special Agent Dale Cooper were the two I meant

I was obviously not born when the original series was screened on BBC 2 - seen rerun's on cable , certainly looked like an interesting / off beat series.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the killer was Laura Palmer's dad - possessed by a malevolent spirit that went on to possess Kyle MacLachlan's character when Laura Palmer's? dad was killed / killed himself and that is essentially how the original series ended?

My understanding of the series is Laura Palmer's death wasn't really key to anything really.. it was more a juxtaposition of the small town idyll against a seedy and often bizarre underbelly like much of lynches work is was basically the seemingly normal and mundane everyday skewed and subverted .

It was screened over 20 years ago, assumed most had seen it or were at least privy to the ending or overall premise via over hearing chatter or reading articles relating to it at the time .

It'll be interesting to see how they resume the series anyway.

ITV 4 or channel 5 will probably show it a few months after the initial airing on sky Atlantic. Failing that a online subscription/rental service like Netflix or Amazon instant.

Or.. other dubious streaming services.

"I don't have Sky so won't see it.

I do want to try and go to the Double R Club not far from me, though. Who's with me?

I've just got my NowTV all sorted online so I can watch it. Worth paying for a couple of months pass, Lickety! Then stream it!

I'm worried it won't be worth paying for. What if it doesn't live up to my memories of the series'?

"

Well then you've got access to all the other Sky goodies for the period! It will be good. I *will*.

(It must )

Thanks. I won't stream. I'll never Amazon anything and won't Sky want to prevent Netflix getting it?

Channel 5 re-ran it a few times over the late night weekend slots.. I'm just assuming there'd be interest from them to show the next installment as a consequence at some point, plus they're owned by Viacom now so more sway and influence in acquiring the rights to shows.

Beyond that, they'll probably be available to buy or rent in the form of a physical medium (dvd/Blu-ray).. soon after the show's finished it's run on TV.

"Please let it be good!"

^^ This. +1

I had to suffer as a teen LOVING this show on a weekly basis and had no one to talk to it about as no one else I knew even at college was watching it!!!!

Now it's coming back and I am shitting bricks it will happen again.

Even though it eventually broke out into wide media discussion hardly anyone watched it and it near ruined it for me as I worked out who was the killer ages before it was revealed and it was such a pisser being right and no one to say "TOLD YOU SO" to!

I really do worry such cult TV is now going to show it's age and be badly redone, one can but hope it will be as amazing as it was.

Coffee Black!

Starbucks and Nero etc are not prepared for what is to come, heh.

I'll end up with hate mail. It was a mini comment on mini skirt parties. There isn't a maiden aunt emoticon.

I think it's only for sky subscribers. Which I'm not so...

It's only Sky subscribers (unlike Sky Cinema, it's the one bit you can't get through Virgin as it's the USP for Sky now). You can get a Now TV box and have time-limited access.
