Is GoT about global warming?

Game of Thrones is a compelling famtasy drama where various powerful people compete to sit on the iron throne. They will stop at nothing to get it and we've seen it change hands many times.

Yet while all this is going on, a non-human army slowly... very slowly... marches towards them and with the intention to fuck up their day. Known as the 'white walkers' this army is large, hard to kill and cannot be made friends with or bought off.

It seems that whilst the humans are busy clinging on to one more day in power or trying to get one step closer to it, they are oblivious to the fact that they are, for all intentions and purposes, already dead. People who warn about the white walkers are ignored or laughed at, even by some of the more intelligent characters. There seem to be more people guarding the queens dildo than castle black which just can't get the funding and support it needs.

This is seen by many as an anology for global warming, albeit it may be an accidental one. Even if not, it could describe a host of other world problems that due to their long term nature, will be ignored until it's too late.

It's a to show based on a book...why make it some thing it isn't?

It has violence, sex and violence...it really doesn't need any thing else. Maybe a dragon or two....no wait, it's got those as well

And George Martin takes so long to write a book, when he started game of thrones global warming probably wasn't even a big deal

"And George Martin takes so long to write a book, when he started game of thrones global warming probably wasn't even a big deal "

Hence i say it might be an accidental analogy rather than a George Clooney style attempt to impose his views on people by the back door. But it holds up well, i hope the white walkers slaughter the tossers... oh wait, do i?

Things can be about more than one thing at a time

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

He said he based the books on the Wars of the Roses. There was a Little Ice Age from about 1600 onwards so maybe that influenced him.

Love it! I commented that the people fighting battles hadn't seem to have come accross the concept of scouts and lookouts when i was informed thats how it was then. What back when they had dragons?

Very interesting perspective, I hadn't seen it in that way before.

Ofcourse the show most definitely explores societal themes of political corruption, sadly a tale as old as time. Those in power of course often become blinded by personal ambition and ignore (or distort) issues that affect those they supposedly represent/are under their charge. Global warming is most certainly such an issue we are faced with today, among many others.

Its a shame that it's a story that will likely always be relevant and necessary to tell.
