Maybe a bit naive on my part, but curious all the same, do people tend to avoid messages/profiles that have a shadow as their profile pic (even if the profile has pics for friends only etc) ?
Is your initial impression a negative one?

+2 saves a lot of wasted time on both parts to see what each other looks like,but that shadow would have to have a very decent and attention grabbing profile to make me want to find out more |

no point in swinging my bits in everybodies face then?? I'm considering setting a profile pic, not really keen on splattering my face all over the web though! (ive read the threads on stolen pics and it makes me slightly concerned about where my face will end up!!) |

Everyone will have a different opinion of what a good profile is
I know what I like and I also know that there are many people that will just bypass profiles with no pics as there are so many more that do have pics that they can choose from
Its your profile though and you can only do what you feel comfortable with |

No pic isn't a problem for us as we use a cam to show and see faces on.
BUT, a pic on your avatar might get more interest from the people who do like pics, so it won't hurt you having one.
I don't mind cock pics, but not on the avatar, so for me a body shot or bum pic is better  |

With 1000s of sex pics for people to look at on here I doubt a general face pic would be a very interesting thing to steal 
At some point people are going to want to see what you look like be it a pic or on cam |

Personally I tend to avoid them.
A good profile might attract my attention, but to be honest I cant be bothered sending messages backwards and forwards for a while before I see some kind of picture...to then turn round after we've chatted a while and say 'sorry not really what Im looking for'... |

I'm going to be really honest and say the initial seeing a message from a shadow doesn't inspire me to want to rush to open the mail and if I'd had other mail from guys with avatars ill open them first.
Of course if the message is lovely and I read the profile and I like it, then it makes little difference at that point, but the first impression, before reading the message, is negative.
Its like any advertising isn't it, if I get an email from a shoe company and it just has the text Great offers on sandals, ill be alittle interested. If they mail me with a fantastic picture of 'got to have' shoes, as well as the text, I'm rushing to click on the link.

In the forums it wouldnt bother me, i have my filters set so that people without photos cant message me. In my profile it says attatch a picture so if they have them in their gallery they can do it. If they dont i dont respond. I like to see who im chatting to |

hmm no I dont mind as long as its a temporary thing,but just refused a friends profile as they added us over a year ago,and still not got round to pics,and because they are local to me,I felt a bit uncomfortable letting them see all our pictures  |

Personally a profile with no avatar isn’t likely to grab our attention and we seem to forget them easily. It doesn’t have to be a face though. Kitty has the memory of a goldfish and without a pic she’s apt to forget who it is.
