Who's winning?
Personally I the Marvel are way ahead, DCs Batman Superman fell very short for me, and their next instalment Dawn of Justice looks a bit meh too.
So, what's your favourite, what ya looking forward to?
For the diary in a few years I've got, Avenegers Infinity and Gardians Vol 3 to look forward to, out this year is the new Spider-Man homecoming movie. |

now where to start...
The marvel universe was originally planned back in 2006 and the plan was up to the end of the infinity wars. up to phase 5 i believe, we are just in phase 3 now...
the original plan was to be able to make a movie universe that would work similar to major cross overs... for the comic book geeks, anyone remember onslaught?
each movie works well on their own but also works well as a continued story... so you can watch iron man 1,2,3 in order and have Tony starks story...
DC - So far all i have seen is them completely trash decent storylines which if done properly would of been amazing... for example Batman Vs Superman.... the comic for that story was amazing, and yet a 5 min storm in a tea cup.... the Doomsday story line, the death of superman.... again on its own a huge story line and yet, 5 min storm in tea cup... the introduction of the JL.. for me it seems like they are just pushing as much into one film as they can and killing potentially amazing story lines.
now the Marvel TV universe, that is being done amazingly well especially some of the casting Jon Berthnal as the punisher.... amazing! Jessica jones, luke cage and Daredevil... all amazingly done |

I re watched suicide squad on Monday. I actually felt like it was a really good movie at times. It has its flaws. But in general it's a good movie. Bat vs superman was a decent movie. It's not trying to be marvel. It's trying to be darker. More stylized. But they choose a tough story arc. Superman is supposed to be a hero. They play up the alien angle too much and when you can't identify with the hero then the story isn't going to be as good
Marvel makes great heroes. It cast the movies so well, integrated the stories with planning and intelligence that it has set a standard that is unfair to expect DC to match. |

Well with Marvel you get a paint by numbers experience that feels more and more familiar every time.
And with DC you get shoddy writing and poor world building thats doomed to be rebooted every 5 years.
I'll have to go with Marvel because they're starting to take risks with some pretty decent directors. Taika Waititi is the man. |

Batman v Superman and Dawn of Justice are the same movie. You're thinking of Justice League |

Some people here are saying Marvel for movies and DC for tv shows.
I used to watch Arrow and Flash etc but to me it got boring after season 3/4 of Arrow. The first 2 seasons were amazing but then it all started turning into a gossip girl type programme.
I'd say that Marvel now has the best tv shows with the Netflix shows, yeah some of them are better than other but at least they actually try and give us 13 hours of drama |

A couple decades ago there were some truly awful attempts at comic book movies from both camps. The only exceptions being the Tim Burton Batman movies. Otherwise it was very, very poor fare. There was a decidedly ropey Captain America back then, and The Flash was also pants!... But so was Aflecks Daredevil... And Reynolds Green Lantern... Ummmm... I don't know where I'm going with this.. |
