"I have a friend that works for Bristol City council and his name is well known amongst staff.
I see his his work as vandalism more than art"
Where does vandalism end and art begin then, in your expert opinion? |

I didn't proclaim to be an expert, but it's graffiti albeit better than most, and I do admit to quite liking some of his work, however I don't think he asks for permission for where he puts all of his work |

I have no idea, I don't work for the council. I imagine those that do know his name through their job had to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement |

imo, vandalism is wilful destruction of property for no reason.
so political cause wouldn't be vandalism when it comes to graffiti, nor even if something got burned to the ground to make apolitical statement either.
art is anything, literally any thing you can think of. |

So?
Does that somehow detract from its artistic merit? |

I'm not that clever, but that makes sense and agree that art is subjective, I just find ot odd how one person can draw on a wall and it's okay yet another does it and could end up with a criminal record. But I seem to dislike quite a few modern artists and their interpretation of art - I'm getting grumpy in my old age |

"Maybe it's a set up to arrest the graffiti artist. Crime does not pay!
Well only the people who get caught say that ! "
Off topic does anyone remember when they did that to criminals and got them on a fake gameshow and their prize was the police... that was a right show!! |

Well I guess art is art wherever it is but I'd be rather annoyed if he put something on my house, like I said in a different post I just struggle to see how it's okay for one person to draw on a wall but a criminal record for another |

Haha yeah. I think the rigged up push bike pranks are absolutely hilarious on YouTube. Definitely will make someone think twice about stealing someone's push bike again! |

all people drawing on walls without permission are criminals by default (that's just how law is).
but yeah art is subjective. |

they are making a statement or expressing something, that's all artists are doing basically. |
