I was very proud of our garden last year. It was an overgrown jungle when we moved in and with a little help from Mr N with the digging I transformed it with flower and vegetable plants that I grew from seed. |

My proud moment today was thanks to my youngest twin daughter, there's been a local house fire and the family lost everything, I was discussing it with my friend who asked me for some of my youngest daughters old clothes I could donate, she over heard asked if she could go upstairs then came down shortly after with a bag full of her toys saying the little girl could have them "to make her happy as she's as lots so doesn't need them all". I welled up I was so proud of her |

My proud moment happened at lunchtime. There was a homeless chap who was getting teased by three lads in their early twenties but people were just ignoring it. It wasn't physical but it was verbal and unpleasant. I suggested it was best that they leave him alone and after a few choice words they left. Then spent last 20 mins of lunch with the chap. Got some strange looks sat there in suit
You never know what life will throw at you, he wouldn't take any money, but we agreed on a mug of tea, bottle of water and some grub from the cafe accross the road.

Bravo.
Who knows, some time in the future, those lads may well fall upon hard times and find themselves in similar (reduced) circumstances. |

What idiots they were, poor bloke.
Good on you for showing him a hand of kindness
I always say we're all just one bad financial decision away from becoming homeless can happen to anyone |

The last time I went to Dublin, I noticed a lot of homeless people. It was early January, and a freezing cold night. My friends and I asked him what he liked to eat and we got an extra portion of food from The Roma "chipper" (the best in Dublin according to my mate) gave it to him. At least the poor bloke had something warm in his belly to see him through the night.
My dear old Mum had a saying "there but for the grace of god go I".
I'm also reminded of the words to that Kirsty McColl song "Walking Down Madison" "From a penthouse apartment to a night on the A train - it's not that far" |
