If they are in a folder, can you not copy the folder onto a stick?

If you google you will find out how to copy all the messages in your inbox to a memory stick and then onto a new laptop. My friend did this to keep all his messages and contacts after being made redundant.

Ps make sure when it goes back you clear all your internet activity

You need to find the .pst folder which has all of your emails / contacts etc in it, and copy it to a big flash drive or some other form of storage.

There is an "export" function in Outlook which will let you do this.

Not sure how you import Outlook mail to Hotmail, though, never had to do that

Download and run CCleaner (it is spelled correctly) to remove your browsing history, saved password, cookies etc. It is known as "the marriage saver" in my local fire station!

lol just leave all the history on there, give someone a nice surprise

you should be able to bulk copy and paste, just highlight all the messages and copy, then paste into the memory stick

On another note, gorgeous arse Katielovescock hehe

What is CCleaner?

CCleaner is a small, effective utility for computers running Microsoft Windows that cleans out the 'junk' that accumulates over time: temporary files, broken shortcuts, and other problems.

CCleaner protects your privacy. It cleans your browsing history and temporary internet files. Allowing you to be a more confident Internet user and less susceptible to identity theft.

CCleaner can clean unneeded files from various programs saving you hard disk space, remove unneeded entries in the Windows Registry, help you uninstall software and select which programs start with Windows.

No problem - in this instance I'd make it the last thing you run before you turn it off for the last time!

Don't forget to clean out your Documents and Pictures folders too, just in case..

My old company did this with me recently but I could still send and receive (they'd disabled access to my contacts apart from the HR manager).

Those emails I wanted I just forwarded to my hotmail account.

Be aware, that should ANY of the emails you try to copy, hold ANY personal details, customer records etc. etc then you will have commited a serious breach of the Data Protection Act and possibly, should any business contacts be included, you could be in breach of contact with your ex-employer. The first is a criminal offence for which you may be jailed and the second would be easily proven in court and could result in huge litigation costs and compensation. Be very careful!

Can I ask when you log into the laptop do you then need to remote into your work network to access your email?

If this is the case, it sounds like your company is running Microsoft Exchange and if they have disabled your account you will not be able to access the emails.

Deleting the email from your laptop wont hide anything from them.

Email is held on a server and is replicated to your laptop.

If you were able to log back in they would have security measures in place where they know what you are doing.

If you really need to access certain emails then you would need to go through Compliances and get them to sign it off, then IT will grant you access or copy them for you.

Copying company related emails is a serious breech which could get you into a lot a trouble.

If they are personal emails that were sent to your work email address then speak to someone in IT and I am sure they will copy the files.

You will not be the first or last person to have received personal emails to work... Hope this helps!

the thing that makes me giggle the most about this is that you posted for assistance on a swingers forum, surely some IT forum would be more beneficial?

I've been interfering with computers for longer than I've been interfering (or trying to) with women. Just 'cos I'm a geek doesn't mean I'm not a dirty geek.
