I watched a bit of her show a couple of weeks back.
She had asked people to leave momentoes/ photo's etc when they arrived for the show, she would pick some out and do a reading from them.
She picked a photograph out and started asking for someone called Jim...two people recognised the photo, answered yes, I have a family member called Jim, so she started talking about their grandad called Jim who was on the photograph. The audience burst out laughing when the women told Sally that the picture is of their Nan not their grandad and that the Jim connection was her son
If she can't get the sex right of a person I can't see how the messages could be right either |

Both my parents said the same to their family, and although I am a sceptical where all this is concerned, I have had a couple of moments that I couldn't explain, so wonder if it is them, BUT, I am guessing it is more wishful thinking on my part. |

First of all sorry to hear about your loss, and my thoughts are with you.
As for Sally Morgan shes a charlatan, just like all these so called Mediums!! its a cheap parlour trick just like the pastors in the US and UK who claim to heal people!! watch the Derren Brown shows on these frauds!!
Sally Morgan preys on the vunerable in times of trouble who want reassurance of someone passing on.
This level of fraud has been going on for hundreds of years and is purely a trick!! dont go see her as its a waste of your money!! unfortunatly when someone dies thats it, they dont come back and certainly dont come to talk to you through a fraud!!
Just ask yourself why these people sell tickets to watch this "entertainment" and why they dont do it for free, ask yourself why these people make millions out of it its a business not a charity or calling that they take a minimum wage from!!!
The people who go to these shows fill in allsorts of information prior to going that they use as researsh on the guests and they plant people in receptions who talk to members of the audiance as they come in, to use during the show!! its all a big con!! |

There was an offer put out nationally some years back for any mediums or clairvoyents to come forward and prove what they could do in a controlled environment with substantial money offered, guess how many came forward, if you guessed none you were correct |

I believe in some things, but if someone genuinely had a gift they shouldnt be getting paid on national television and using it as entertainment.
Thought insertion, mind games and trickery. Majority of people that go to these things are vulerable and want to believe what they are saying so will read stuff into anything they say.
Im not saying some dont have a "gift" but not the ones that go and use it for entertainment purposes.
From what you said in the op, she used the most basic thing going, she asked if anyone knew are jim? Now in an audience of a couple of hundred how many could that relate to.
Id be more impressed if she had said a very unusual name that could only have ment something to one person |

I have told people of their hopes and dreams from drawing and dreams at charity fetes.
I don't have "gift" as far as I know but I researched symbolism of colour, shape and images first. Once you get a lead it is surprising how many clues people will give you. They have all enjoyed the experience and it was for a good cause. |

I think that if you're looking that hard for something then you'll find it in any way shape or form because that will give you the comfort that you crave

I am a non believer. I do not accept that anyone has ever or will ever communicate with the dead.
But......
I do think that the trauma caused by bereavement drives people to try and find 'peace' in whatever way they can. If a 'performance' by a so called 'medium' brings someone peace of mind and closure, then maybe, just maybe ignorance is bliss, and bliss comes at a price! |

Derek Acorah was totally discredited on most haunted by one of the researchers on the programme. He left some fake details for Acorah to find of a man who supposedly lived in a house years before.
Acorah saw them and later 'channelled' this fictional person. I believe he got the sack from the programme. He's still on the tv tho!
Having said that,if some people take comfort from mediums then good luck to them |

My Mother was very good at this.. Seen to much in my youth to not believe.. However, there are so many fakes out there.. but even the fakes seem to find comfort for the people they are talking too...
I seem to have inherited ( or been cursed with ) My mothers gift but learnt to ignore it..
Hate going to really emotional places though.. or battle fields..
I love going on ghost walks though..and watching others freak out when nothing is there..

What gets me about Acorah is that he leans back with his head to one side to 'listen' to Sam, his spirit guide. It occurs to me that if he had a spirit guide it would surely talk to him in ways that doesn't require him to listen in the conventional sense.
Load of hocus pocus if you ask me. When you're dead, you're dead, that's it, lights out, hello oblivion. |

Why are spirit guides always red indians?
I bet if your grandad was an old cowboy, like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, they wouldn't feel good about passing on the messages, especially if gramps was the one who sent the guide to the other side |

My elderly aunt died a few months ago, which resulted in me having to travel backwards and forwards up to Sidcup in Kent to sort out her house and it's contents...
I was shocked to find that in the few months leading up to her death she had been frequenting a Spiritualist church, but was even more disturbed to find the several letters they had sent to her at her home trying to coax money out of the poor old dear.
When I went along to speak to them about it they were at first very happy to see me, believing that she had left them a great deal of money to their 'church' in her Will....as they had been attempting to persuade her to do.
I was bloody furious and found great pleasure in straightening them out, my old aunt may have been lonely and a little confused in her final months....but she was no fool.
They are a bunch of charlatans and tricksters in my book.....

unfortunatly all bad ones, as the saying goes "a fool and their money are soon parted" and hate to say it people who give money to these people, spiritualist churches and scientology should all be rounded up neutered and not allowed to infect the rest of the human race lol |

I do like to watch shows like this but more for how the questions are structured and peoples body language when they answer. I think it takes a clever person to be able to do this but its more being clever than real spiritualism. |

Its a little known fact that Sally is only 3 feet 7 inches tall and it was her lack of height that allowed her to escape from prison when she was serving 18 months for fraud. The newspaper headline the next day read
'Small Medium at Large' |

Medium Doris Stokes always said that she would "prove" there was something to what she did. She would come back after she died! All those around her and all the TV companies out there are still waiting....
One who may or may not be a fake.. John Edward. Contrary to most, if someone starts to try and fill in gaps, he stops them and rattles on at a pace. When he has finished, he looks for specifics in what he said to see if it ties up. He will also "insist" that something is right even though the people being "read" don't know about it!
He may be a fake, but he's a fookin good one! |

I would agree to that one Rumour and having been dragged to one of his shows in Manchester, he acted the same way in those. The only thing he asks people to say is yes or no. He shuts them up if they try and give him information.
As you say, if they are all fakes, he is the most convincing. |

And its odd that everyone who 'talks' through him is a scouser. Even Michael Jackson!

I'm sorry for your loss.
Sally Morgan has a team of researchers and they are able to find details of the audience as they are allocated seats and information is so very easily obtainable these days ie facebook, twitter.
I do believe there are genuine mediums but Sally Morgan preys on the vulnerable.
Ps anyone seen the medium on limmys show... Brilliant |

Over a year ago I wrote a thread about a friend of mine.
"So what?" you say?
Long story short, Tim died in a car accident, and something happened which shook me to the core. At the exact time of the accident I was asleep in bed, until I very clearly heard him call out my name, and awoke.
Up until then I had been an absolute believer in the "once you are gone, thats it" camp, any suggestion of messages from the "other side" etc used to get nothing but a scathing response from me.
Now?
I still dont know exactly what to believe, all I can say for sure is that Tim called out to me.
However, as has been said in other posts above, there is a large team of researchers who work for these "mediums" etc, and many of them are fakers and con artists.
I'm starting to form the opinion that we may all have a sixth sense of this type, and if the "departed" want to contact you, they will.

The human brain is an incredibly complex processor and we can make ourselves believe and our bodies react via messages sent from the brain to anything.
I think a lot of these 'seeing ghosts' thing ia down to that. I've heard countless stories of medical staff seeing ghosts whilst working a shift at the hospital, stories from intelligent people who would never make up something bizarre like that. They have seen those ghosts, their mind has produced that image to them - of course its got nothing to do with those people doing a double shift and being so tired and stressed.
Physics and mediums work in such a way in that they can feed that belief. The people who go are all wanting to believe. To go and have a message from a loved one is important to them and so unkowingly their mind is open to suggestion.
They are exceptional at reading body language that's for sure. We give off signals unknowingly. I once had a reading from a medium after my mum died. She took my hands in hers and she said that my mum had passed over and she described rather vaguely what my mum looked like. I hadn't told her it was my mum that had died or what she looked like. Thinking about it now, the woman held my hands, I wear my mothers wedding ring, its a thin 22 carat gold plain wedding band. The type many ladies who got married in the 50s had. Guesswork on her part that if I was wearing a ring which was so obviously old fashioned and scratched and worn that it would belong to someone close. I have small hands, its unlikely that eing would fit a man. She described my mum, but I'm sure she took a look at my colouring and height and made a guess that as I'm only 5ft and blonde, that I would have inherited some of my mothers genes and my mum was unlikely to be a 6ft Jamaican woman.

i'm afraid i don't believe there are any genuine ones but that is just my personal _iew
i do from time to time watch progs with them on i find it fascinating the John Edward fella is particularly good
we went to see Derren Brown live in May and i just think he is amazing the way he reads people is beyond believe but what i love about him is his honesty he has never tried to mislead anyone and has done quite a few things to to expose the frauds out there
all that said i never knock those that do believe if its waht it takes to get ya through then go for it just don't get taken in financially leave ya purse at home |

I believe in spiritual things as I had the proof I required to believe in it. Thats not to say that there isn't good and bad mediums.
I believe that Sally Morgan is exceptionally good and has her reasons to go on National tv. I have been to one of her shows and found it to be a very enjoyable night and she is always able to connect to several people in the audience.
But as in all things there is believers and non-believers as there is in swinging. Some people believe and understand what we are involved in and others don't and tend to be more skeptical etc.
People who are very anti this subject tend to have not had an experience and therefore there mind is closed to the idea but I would say if you are interested find out and Sally Morgan doesn't cost the earth and is an enjoyable night out so whats the harm. |

or maybe just more naturaly logical thinkers maybe??
i have had a few experiences over the years that some would put down to maybe ghostly activity and also have a friend that has claimed to have the "gift" and even though we are friends doesn't know everything about me has said stuff that has made me spin my head round exclaiming eh!!! but yet i still do not believe there is any such thing as the "other side" or any way of comunicating with it
i just believer there is a logical explanation behind everything
they are just incredibly clever people that can read things that the rest of us miss
to be perfectly honest i wish i was that clever |
