I'd say only 'naw' from that list is Glasgae specific, unless chick, aye and pal have very different meanings up there?
I don't think there are any Berkshire specific words to be honest - we obviously all speak with a plum in our gobs though in the Royal County |

I don't know much here in Manchester, but I grew up in Cornwall where it is perfectly acceptable to call a man a cock as a compliment.
It's a casual greeting saying "Alright, me cock" |

I was born in Salford and I can remember a couple:
"Ginnel" is a passage/alley
"Barmcake" - Bread roll
"Mard" - Soft; weak

I love to be called hen. I was married to a Scot, and my Dad lived up there too and I just think it's lovely term! |

Many of Northern Ireland's colloquialisms seem to have been eroded through exposure to mass media..
Bake = face
Bap = head
Milly = chav
Spide = male chav
Hallion = dirty git
Poke = ice cream cone with soft serve
What about yee = hi, what have you been up to since the last time we spoke to one another?
Feg = cigarette
Melter = a trying person ..
There are loads. Ha.

Twitchell was commonly used where I grew up but I've never heard anywhere else. As a clue to the usage would be something like "I'll meet you up the twichell", although thinkong on this now that could mean something somewhat different on this site. |
