Agreed, but for those of us old enough to remember it generated some brilliant adverts:

"For mash get Smash"

(I'm sure they'll be on youtube if you look)

Wrong, wrong, wrong, and a bit more wrong.

Just boil a couple of spuds up, Ben the worst cook couldn't fuck that up. Could they?

On those incidents when I have no potatoes and have instant in the cupboard I'll add extra butter, cheese and a little nutmeg for flavour.

I love instant mash!

I go through stages where I'll just have instant mash and gravy. Normally when I'm skint and have no gas, but I genuinely like it!!

For years when I was younger I would only eat Smash or Yeoman instant mash as my mum's proper mash was always lumpy and she tried to hide vegetables in it

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Instant mash has come on the the wallpaper paste it used to be.

I can garuantee that most of you have eaten it in some form in a restaurant without realising..

Unfortunately I did have the misfortune of eating it, but worse still "re-heated instant mash" I'm still none the wiser as to why you would need to re-heated instant mash!

My mum used Yeoman for most dinners, as peeling potatoes every night for 8 people was too much. We were used to it and didn't mind it. As we got older we occasionally had pasta, but never rice and always instant mash.

Because it went cold might be a good reason

I tried some of those slimming world recipes, they suggest coating chicken in smash with spices for a kfc fakeaway.

I would have been better dipping the chicken in dust.it was gross.

I love instant mash.

But then I like Pot Noodles as well.

No one else in the house likes either so I don't often get to indulge

My Mackem blood is exceeding thin and rare .....

My proclivity for a Bubble n' squeak banjo was nurtured far from the northern wasteland we share......

I suspect the fortunes of our respective footy teams will result in a lot more bubbles than squeaks next season

Haha that makes me laugh....I was working in North shields a few years back and noticed people were wearing Newcastle and Sunderland kits.

Talking about it to a Newcastle fan and his thoughts on was it compared to transvestism.

lol...... I have a genuine affinity for all the northern clubs and celebrate the success of each team , the caveat being that I'd rather see any of our teams win a trophy at the expense of a scenario causing the relegation of either of the other sides , but in derby games I feel compelled to cheer on Sunderland simply because they were the side I most associated to through childhood ...... well them Arsenal and Leeds although I got over that phase during puberty ......

Yeah I kinda get that as when I was a kid quite a lot of others round here supported leeds....but we were always a second division club then...leeds were doing well in the 1st.

But as they got older all became firm boro fans, well the are when they are doing well
