Brighton - even Hove!

Infinity is a weird number, cos you can take infinity away from infinity and still have infinity.

That is right it is a strange one, even info from online are not sure about it.

Infinity isn't really a number though, more a concept of a number.

Technically you could subtract negative infinity from positive infinity and receive 0 but it is still funky.

And some infinities are bigger than others...... I think it gets a bit quantum after that

infinite meaning you have 1 sweet and share it with no one that transaction will go on forever and ever and ever. well unless you eat the sweet.

Infinity, according to some, does not exist. Theoretically, there is a maximum number of 'things' in the universe, so that number should be able to be calculated. However, as soon as any new sub-atomic particle is discovered, and let's not even think too much about 'dark matter', that calculation becomes obsolete. And then there is the theory of multiple universes......now my brain is starting to hurt!

Indeed although I don't think anyone thought the two were the same.

Although the chances of me getting an infinite number of women sitting on my face is zero so in that respect, they are the same.

"Infinity isn't a number."

Pi is a number.......that is infinite - or at least is is so far, so it's been proved so far it's infinite.

Can distance be infinite? Unless the universe or multiverse is spherical so you get back to where you started if you go on far enough.

slight correction

Zero was invented independently by the Babylonians, Mayans and Indians.

1 divided by zero is undefined... It has no value and every value... It has no meaning.

Is not infinite, it's irrational

BTW if you want to vote your mind about infinity do a Google search for countable and uncountable...

Of look for stuff about hilbert's hotel

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Division by zero is possible depending how you look at the value of zero.

Mathematically, zero can be offset with reference to negative values as zero cannot be infinitely small if there is a value that is less than zero.

nothing can be divided by nothing. think of it ...it is nothing.

if i divide one apple by nothing then nothing happens. it changes nothing.

and infinity isn't a measurement, like the above said it's a concept. although you can actually do maths with concepts.

Don't worry we both learnt something today ??.

I thought it was just the Indians but checked before I posted and discovered it was also Babylonians too. ??

Good points everyone and yes, it is a mix of mathematics with some concepts.
