I have recently stopped smoking but do not consider myself an ex smoker yet as I still see myself in the quitting phase.
Question is how long after you quit did you concider yourself an ex smoker? |

Probably when my doctor updated my details to non smoker a week or so after I quit. Made it feel somewhat official. I haven't looked back since. Quit about 5 months ago. First two weeks were that hardest but you can do it |

Give yourself a month. That's when the nasty chemicals have mostly worked their way out of your body and with a bit of luck the cravings and rituals you developed to do your smoking are becoming less prevalent. Good luck OP. Best thing for your health you will ever do. |

Once you can't smell the stench on your clothes, in your car and in your house.
When you can smell it on other people and in their clothes, their house and car and you look at them in total disgust, while pursing your lips and shaking your head.
Then you will know for sure you will never take another drag!
Good luck |

Where the streets have no name |
I quitted three years ago. I used to smoke pipe and cigarettes, but less than the average. Sometimes one cigar.
In these three years, I've smoked a couple of times, but just in very special occasions and out of my daily context. Never alone or at home.
Currently, I still have the crave for a few minutes when I drink coffee or alcohol, but I don't let myself do it. When it happens, I try to focus my attention in other thougts. If I would do it just once in my normal context, I would fall irremediably again.
By the way, I have gained 2 stones |

When having a drink and a friend passes you a ciggy...you have a drag, turn green and say " now i know why i quit". Thats when i knew for sure i'd never have another. That was prob about 5 yrs after i quit from 30 a day.
BTW well done for quitting |

Thanks everyone, I already know I'm never going back to it. Struggle at times but (usually when having a pint) and will worry about the adding of weight later. Just wasn't sure the general concensus as to when I should say non smoker.

When you start slagging people off for smoking!
When you walk past someone who is smoking and you wave your arms around like a ninja pretending to cough..... That's when your a proper ex smoker
Good luck op
I gave up for eight years and it was so easy to go back to it!!! |
