Why do Fabbers favour Kik?

While looking at profiles and contacting people, I have noticed a lot of Fabbers prefer Kik for messaging over Skype and Whatsapp. Is there any particular reason for that?

You don't need to divulge your mobile number for kik....and there's a small video option.

It doesn't use telephone numbers.

Kik saves screen refreshing, it also keeps your phone number secret

Think whatsapp but without giving your personal numbers out

That makes sense. Thanks for the quick response.

Kik is worst than fab. I got booted out of a scottish kik group last year because the little hitler that ran it was annoyed I didn't talk on it for a day! Other people on the group told me she booted anyone that actually had a job or life and couldnt speak on it 24 - 7 cause thats all she did!

I think this is probably correct.

Yes and it was a group, not an individual.

Kik is good for chat, as if you don't want to continue you can just block.

That's the same as with any messaging app or even on here. It's so easy to screenshot.

I have only ever had the one phone number and I use it for everyone. I wouldn't want to put it in the hands of someone I didn't trust. After all we rarely know the person on the other end of the internet or their true intentions. It's good for protecting each other's personal numbers for chatting. That's the main attraction for me. Once you get to know someone and trust them then you can exchange numbers if it is of benefit.

No numbers exchanged.

Although the video chat option is NOT my favourite thing!

Especially when you click it by accident and frantically try and undo it

Why does that make it worse than fab?

That is just my opinion. I got invited into a kik group then booted after a week because I couldn't chat one day because I was busy. The woman that run it was paranoid that people were on the group and spying.

Yep, and it's usually when you look dog rough and don't feel sexy. I accept the request but place my finger over the camera and then it slips and the other person ends up seeing a nostril or something and ends up thinking i'm weird!

That does not make Kik bad or worse than Fabs. It was just a bad person using Kik

Limited experience we have had of kik suggests the other party just wanted to swap pics which we aren't interested in doing as we have enough pics in our profile for that.

I can see the use for a video chat with someone but it doesn't count for much if, after a verification via kik video chat, they decide not to turn up for a meet. It will reduce the chance of a no show but doesnt guarantee it.

Or are we missing something about using kik?

Yep, you are. You don't need to divulge your telephone number. The way you use it and how you find it is nothing to do with the app itself.

They are often used to lie and spread rumours about other fab members, of which I have also been the victim of!

Sad people who must have some jealousy issues

I used to use Kik a lot until an update about a year ago. Since then it's caused all sorts of issues, ranging from messages simply not being delivered to locking up my phone completely. Doesn't seem to be related to just one phone, it's been the same on multiple Android devices.

That's still nothing to do with the app but to do with how people use it.
