Would love to go to a festival but couldn't cope with the toilets

Was truly astounded at the amount of rubbish left behind at Glastonbury. Wonder if it was al recycled / given to the homeless etc etc

Actually, there never appears to be ANY coverage, positive or not, of Scottish Festivals, south of the border!

It's a shame, because from what I hear from friends and acquaintances, some of these are really very good!

i have 'issues' with crowds

i don't like being in a bar or shopping centre that is too busy, let alone the thought of being surrounded by thousands of people.

the toilet situation is another valid point tho.

There's a particular issue in Dunfermline (not that far from Balado) at the moment regarding over strength E.

T in the Park becomes the 5th or 6th largest town in Scotland for the duration. It's hardly surprising if there are problems with alcohol, drink, violence, death by natural causes - just like in town in the country.

I worked as a Volunteer Steward at the annual Beverley Folk Festival in mid-June including the break-down day following the end of the site.

OK, it wasn't Glastonbury, but it did have around 10,000 visitors over a weekend and the amount of rubbish left behind there too was unbelievable!

But it was all sorted out into the various recyclable types, with colour and number coded bins around the entire site, and continually checked or emptied at intervals across the weekend, into large central storage areas.

From what I could gather, the recycling factor is now considered mandatory at all festivals across the UK.

I've been contributing to another thread on T in the Park elsewhere and one of the gripes is about the debris left behind.

The concensus seems to be that the stuff is just so inexpensive nowadays that people just abandon it rather than haul it home to try to clean and dry it for next year - they just buy new stuff even cheaper.

Geoff Ellis allows a local charity to collect and recycle anything salvagable.

Was it finally determined it was a heart attact? He was a pal of Camoron.

It interesting about national news. For the last couple of years the main UK broadcasters have been forced to pursue this 'respect' agenda and cover stuff from the other 3 UK nations.

This weekend T in the Park is the biggy. The golf near Inverness and the Tall Ships at Greenock got a mention locally but can't really compete with the cult of rock/ pop celebrity despite the fact that no amount of publicity is going to attract more people to Balado (it's sold out) whilst there's still tickets for the golf and the Tall Ships event is free for the whole weekend - till Tuesday.

What else do you really expect english reporters to report in england?? Maybe there will be some day where scotland is not portrayed to be full of loons.

I'm not saying that there isn't a problem with drugs at T, however, are you suggesting that there was no trouble at all with the other festivals mentioned? Not according to english reporters...

I think we all know damn well that drugs are freely available and used, therefore a problem with the law, at just about all major music festivals....be they in England, Scotland or Wales (do the Welsh have major festivals?)

To suggest otherwise is foolish....or plain baiting.

Nah, I saw the package referred to and it was a Scots lass inter_iewing a Scots polis about a potentially serious drug problem just a few miles away from Balado.

It needed to be said.

do you know young man... you interest me.

you can at times post things in a wise for your years fashion..

and then let yourself down with petulance.

I read yesterday.. you have your home, your savings, your dog and it all seemed so content and I was so impressed...

then this...

up the ladders and down the snakes.

The crime rate at Glastonbury is actually much higher than the crime rate at the Notting Hill Carnival. Now that is an event that gets a lot of negativity thrown its way by certain sections of the English media

There are many Fab members who are in the armed forces.....many.

In fact there are several I know of who are at this very moment in Afghanistan serving with the Royal Marines.

But when they are not overseas they just blend into the Fab membership because they tend not to talk about their tours of Helmand.

They just get on with it, they don't boast of how many tours they have undertaken, they don't talk about their time in one of the most elite regiments in the world, they just come on here for fun with sexy fems and couples.

They most certainly wouldn't post a photo of themselves in their uniform....because they have respect for the regiment.

Maybe others could take a leaf out of their book......

Was truly astounded at the amount of rubbish left behind at Glastonbury. Wonder if it was al recycled / given to the homeless etc etc"

Usless fact of the day, it costs around £750,000 to clean up the mess after Glasto... yes, 3/4 of a million quid!!!

Get a grip of yourself, your attitude stinks. There are plenty who have nothing but good to say about serving personnel but the kind of behaviour you're demonstrating does nothing to help those who have negative thoughts.

Service test??????

dunblane, stirling

very much agree View.

cov_lad it is very much a lot against one but you are not helping yourself whatsoever with bigoted judgemental prejudice.

and from someone in your work background i would have expected better.

everyone is entitled to their opinion and i would stand beside anyone to protect their right to have their own beliefs and opinions. but you dont have the right to force those opinions upon others
