Do you say what you really mean or do you end up biting your lip in fear of offending others?

I know people talk about 'hiding behind a computer' but sometimes i feel the opposite, if i was having a debate with a person face to face id often be more opinionated and say stronger _iews

No doubt you would. But let's say you were doing so in a pub and didn't like the other person's _iews? Would you complain to the landlord and have them thrown out? Unlikely to happen.

It's usually the one who dares disagree on here that's thrown out, temporary or full time. Slight difference.

I have a reputation of being harsh but fair at work!

It made my day today when I came out with the line of "having a super duper computer system does not make a monkey into a rocket scientist" after someone made an error for not following procedures.

I said it in front of a small selected audience who shared my _iew, and not in public though.

I do suffer from the "sarcastic" gene.. and the odd one does get through... but again that is what makes me me.....

I am usually controlled, I will put my point across and hopefully its not in a rude way. Sometimes I get it wrong and it can be sarcastic.

But when im angry and someone pushes me over the edge, I have less control and I end up losing it and raising my voice etc. Ive done this twice in jobs, both to senior managers, but I was so angry at the times I did it, I couldnt stop myself. When I calm down im really embarrassed and worry about going into work the day after.

I always get my point across, but try not to upset people by the way I say it!

Never really understood the "I must be true to myself and tell it like it is brigade". There is no reason for being intentionally rude.

By all means say it, but unless you are angry (not the best time anyway) what is the harm in sugar coating? For instance. A couple wrote to us and asked about a meet. They also asked for a photo of both. We sent one and all we got back was "sorry, she finds you totally unattractive"! I was OK with it as I do have a thick skin (and brain I’ve been told!) But imagine how that could have upset some people.

In my _iew it would have been better to just say that we weren’t for them. Same job done and no one singled out. I have also found that being a bit less caustic has benefits in other ways. Better job out of my employees and nicer reactions from prospective playmates, even when we decide not to play!

Would telling someone s/he was unattractive be telling them something they didn't already know?

I appreciate there are ways of pointing it out gently but do we really want to be lying (there's a thread elsewhere) to people?

Is that a basis for a relationship and, if we're not in it for a relationship, is it an automatic deal-breaker for a shag?

You're right it doesn't change anything, you lose control, you look silly and you regret it when you calm down. Thankfully it takes a lot to push me over the edge.

Its just better to put your point across in a way which doesn't leave the other person feeling awkward or upset .

I dont like it when threads asking for genuine advice get hijacked for 'comedy' purposes - if you want a personal conversation do it in chat or private message

I think the forums are exceptionally clicky and unwelcoming at times, if the face doesnt fit you sure know about it

The fact we can't name people regarding certain issues yet we can all start a thread with someones username - now how is that NOT personal??

Threads with the same name running along side each other even on the same page.. can people not read? eg.. morning the 8th july (there are currently 3 of them)

Bloody hell - sods law isnt it

there did seem to be a lot of clique type posts at one time, but I do feel that peoples posting methods are certainly calmer now.

We used to get the critiquing profile thing every time you posted - you'd have a perfect innocent post about, I dont know, saying a bi guy looks sexy, and the next thing you have half a dozen people saying, why are you saying that, your profile says you are straight, your obviously in denial. That seems to have lessened too.

But I do agree with what Cute has said about the personal thread thing. Sometimes I think its nice. The Diamondsmiles one recently was great, she has worked so hard with her weight loss and been so determined and its paid off and that deserves recognition I think. The Kev ones, whilst I like Kev very much, have really got on my tits these last couple of days, (sorry no offence to Kev). Someone said on one of those posts that a fellow poster had no sense of humour - well it does wear thin after the 10th or so thread about the same person.

I wonder if the mellow nature of the forum lately is due to members leaving and then receiving a new influx of less antagonistic people, or is it due to good moderators.

I personally try not ta get involved in serious

This ain't always possible thou as we are all only human

In the past i have fallen into the same trap of forming an opinion of someone before i have met them

Only to have that opinion shattered when i have

I love the forums even when the place gets heated sometimes

And I'm the kind of person that rarely has fixed _iews on anything

In Fact the forums over the years have actually made me see things very differently

I try and see things from all side and have been rightly accused of being a fence sitter

I personally fin the fence sitting to work well for me cause i don't and never will know everything

And i have never experienced anyone life other than my own

I'm a kinda live and let live guy generally

And feel i have no need to worry that much about what others think of me

We are all different and that's what i like about life

Think too many people get too involved in stupid things and worry too much about life too actually live it

After all we are only here for a finite time

And in the words someone said too me many years ago when i was going through a rough patch

"Craig look at it this way in a hundred years no one will remember you or anything you have done"

A sobering thought that but oh so true

I myself don't even know my great great grandma's name fa instance

Lifes fa living not fighting xx

"I dont like it when threads asking for genuine advice get hijacked for 'comedy' purposes - if you want a personal conversation do it in chat or private message

"

I did wonder wether your thread was going to turn into a dig at the forum posters, and I obviously wondered right.

We are all different, what you like, others won't.

No one is wrong in how they use the forums ( unless they are breaking rules or constantly having digs at others, which some threads have been lately )

I do find agenda threads tedious, but sadly I can't ignore them like anyone else can....but every other member can ignore whichever thread they wish.

They can also ignore any posts they don't like.

Only Admin decide what is acceptable, and people having fun the way THEY want to have fun is allowed.

I suggest people do that instead of constantly complaining, as it is spoiling the forums for the people who like certain threads.

PS...there was three July threads started, two were morning ones, and one was asking what everyone was up to today.

A thread can only be dealt with when a mod or Admin see it. Sadly it might not be as quick as expected.

I have never heard you once complain about a thread title with your name in it or a thread.

Seems to me this last week or so you havent once stopped complaining about threads yet, these are the same threads you have always participated in.

Now your complaining on this thread yet on another saying that people can post what they like and if someone doesnt like it they dont have to read it.
