"Tragic victims of a broken country, or legitimate targets for emptying your clip into whilst shouting "Get some!" And earning a fortune? "
Probably victims who are desperate, but let's face it, when they're cross decking with automatic weapons and you're not locked in the citadel, then the option of emptying a clip seems pretty good if you're a Westerner playing the circuit! |

The later. Somalia is a shit hole. Another theocratical sewr full of violent regressives that don't want to work, just steal and beg for international handouts. |

"i'm sure you'd get a more definative answer from a lawyer practicing admiralty and maritime law rather than perverts on a sex dating site"
I think the question was relatively tongue in cheek, though after cases in Iraq it's fairly evident there's lawyers willing to make up anything to earn money from conflict zones. But hey thanks for the pervert vote ! |

Basing purely on all the news accounts pertaining to Somalia I've read or watched. I'm not suggesting they're ALL inherently bad and incapable of behaving in a civilised or productive manner..
Largely it seems certain disadvantaging culture practices conspire to produce sectarian fanatics that hack religious minorities within (and outside of as recent tragedies have illustrated) Somalia to bits with machetes , pirates praying on vulnerable ships off it's coast and taking hostages.. or they're in the midst of famine or drought due to the incompetence of their government and it's failure to make contingencies and strategize to prevent the worst when such things occur.
I take no relish from saying it but it's true and borne out overwhelmingly.

Based on what I saw and read on the news growing up I assumed Belfast was a barbaric place where everyone was a lawless terrorist. And couldn't understand why the government, police and military couldn't control the situation
That's the trouble with judging somewhere based on snapshots in the news |

Parts of it where, it was largely before my time so i can't comment in detail. I understand and appreciate the sentiment of what you're trying to say.. I'm merely commenting based on the apparent present day reality of Somalia.
Living in fantasy and ignoring things as they are doesn't change them. Berating me for simply saying something unflattering but true is reductive and non constructive. |

Then maybe it's time we stopped shooting at poor people and started shooting at lawyers? |
