Been surprised by a number of geeky threads on here so thought I'd throw this one out there.
Does anyone play any roleplaying games?
And I don't mean pretending to be a teacher for your naughty student!
I recently got into playing dungeons and dragons. Something I'd always wanted to do as a kid. Turns out it's hilarious fun, especially when combined with good friends and some beers! |

"I was always more of a Call of Cthulhu than a D&D girl. Loads of fun though. And there must be chips and dips as well as beer. It's not in the rules but it should be."
To be honest we switch it out for some dominos.... when I say some I mean copious amounts of pizza!
More of a horror fan? I'd be interested to check that out! |

D&D something I have wanted to try, also pandemic ? If it's apocalyptic role play I would definitely love that.
Just waiting on them making a fallout or Metro version (based of the books) |

Not in many many years.
But when I did, it was Runequest, Traveller and a rather niche (but hilarious) game called Paranoia.
I also used to play table top miniature wargames (Pike and Shot era mainly) uber geeky! |

Ah I have heard of paranoia. Always seemed like a good one to try! |

What's the difference? "
The game evolves and changes everytime you play it.....rip up cards, draw in the board permanently change it..unique to each persom..you can only play it 24 times max.
Legacy is a concept started with risk legacy

"Was this like talisman? "
I've not played Talisman but, looking via Google, they appear to be similar.
I'm sure someone who has played both will be along in a few minutes.
Space Marine, WH4000, was another half-decent board game. |

Yeah bit of a bit in. Once you've got everything you're golden though!
Really good game as battles can swing quickly. |

"Traveller is a blast from the past; still have my set."
Ditto with most of the expansions and Ashanti High Lightning.
D&D 1st edition and ad&d. Melee, Cthulu, Runequest, Space Opera, laserburn, starhound... All still in my loft. |

Waving both hands in the air here.
AD&DII, MERPS, Traveller, Challenger and the ubiquitous Risk lol
Axis and Allies and the one with the Japanese Clans which my memory cannot recall the name.
Every Tuesday night and Saturday, and some Sundays!

Started with traveller,
Dabbled in call of chtuhlu, dungeons and dragons, warhammer fantasy, and last played cyberpunk.
Talisman, diplomacy and munchkin are board games with a role playing flavour.
Sadly it was about twenty years ago when I last did RPGs, as finding a group of people who are interested and have the time seems almost impossible now.
If you think organising a gangbang is hard... |

Haha I've found it easier to organise a d&d group than a meet from here .
If you want a way to get back in a program called fantasy grounds is pretty good I think. I've got it but haven't played through it. Basically it's like playing over Skype but it has a framework that supports all the character sheets, dice rolls, maps and adventures. |

Had a great game called 'Space Crusade' when i was a teenager which me and my mates played loads. There was a book with loads of different missions in it. Some of the pieces looked like ED-209 from 'Robocop'! I think it was by the same people who did 'hero quest'.
Looked them up online couple of years ago as I wanted to try and get back into it with the kids. Ended up getting this ace zombie game called 'Last Night On Earth', great fun. unfortunately the kids weren't as enthusiastic about it as I was and because the older games weren't exactly cheap I didn't bother them
in the end |

As far as zombie games go Dead of winter is fantastic. Although it can really hurt when you discover one of your mates is a betrayer and has been hoarding food all for himself... the rest of my group still haven't forgiven him!
Zombiecide is pretty good too! |

Oh yes, space crusade, wasn't that a variation on warhammer 40k? |

I have been playing TTRPG for over 30 years from OD&D through every edition and now DM for a regular Wednesday night group. Other games played include Paranoia, RuneQuest, Weird West, Call of Cthulhu and many others. |

I had heard about gloomhaven. Not sure I could run another rpg on top of the d&d game I'm dm,big at the minute. Takes up so much time!
If I put as much effort into fab as I did that I would... well I probably still wouldn't get laid but I'd have a bigger presence on here |

Yeah that is the hard part. My group are getting there slowly. I'm still crap at putting on voices |

There are loads of great new miniature games coming out, and just board games in general.
Plus the quality of miniatures these days is just ridiculous. |

This thread is like Nerdvana to me!!
D&D, MERPS, HeroQuest, Space Crusade, Space Hulk, WH40K, amongst others - all still in my possession and yes, all miniatures fully painted (although early ones were a *bit* rough...!)
Recent additions have been Dropfleet Commander (great if you like SciFI space battles!) and The Walking Dead - All Out War....
Yes, geek and proud! And I still paint - very relaxing!! |
