Hotel meet- who should pay

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

There are more people here for casual encounters than for friendships. Both genders have sexual needs and both genders make advances on here.

My question is this, for an hotel meet, who pays the bill? In a typical date, it's expected of the guy; but for swingers, is it any different?

I wouldn't be booking a hotel for a date usually in all honesty but either way it seems fair to share the cost.

a 'typical date'?..not sure where the difference would be...i would assume in both,it would be half each..don't usually go to hotels on a date, but i see no difference...i wouldn't say that nowadays it's expected of the guy at all; i think it might depend on who had done the asking if it was a date though too..

I'd expect to share the cost, and I'd expect the same of a 'typical date' too. Although it's unlikely that would involve a hotel room

I don't expect anyone to pay for a hotel room. I do expect someone who doesn't accommodate to read my profile and not contact me,as I don't either, and don't pay for hotel rooms, at the moment.

I'm very polite in pointing this out, when asked if a hotel is acceptable.

Sometimes one pays for dinner, and the other for the room, swings and roundabouts

For someone to expect for it to be paid is a bit rich

Some people flop things on you at the last minute. You agree to a drink then, when you get there, they want food, or say I'm buying dinner.

If we invite someone for a meet in our hotel room whether its male or MF couple we will pay because its our room. If they invite us then its their room so the same applies and they pay.

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

It depends. No one SHOULD pay. I've had guys wanting to pay. I've paid. I've split it 50/50. Normally I have to go back home and the guy will stay overnight. On those occasions I won't book and pay because i don't want a stranger staying in a room I've booked. .although I will contribute.

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

We have paid in the past but then we have been the ones to stay overnight, so don't have a problem with that. If that wasn't the case we'd want to share the cost. If we were booking a hotel for another reason and inviting someone to join us it wouldn't cross our minds to ask for a contribution. With a guy we are meeting on an ongoing basis we take it in turns. I don't think it matters as long as you discuss it in advance and everyone is happy. What isn't on is people making presumptions.

The only thing I really object to is when it's been intimated that the costs will be split before the meet but I then get stung with the whole bill. If I know beforehand that I will be paying then I have the choice of meeting or not.

The more I think about it the more I feel this is how I would want us to do it, for the reasons you state.

We have our first hotel meet on Monday, it was initially going to be full play and at the social the guy generously offered to pay for the hotel. After the social we realised we would prefer to stick to soft play (which he was fine with, its our first MFM) so we got back to him and said that because we had moved the goalposts a bit we would take care of the hotel on this occasion, which he was ok with. Have to say we felt a lot more relaxed about things once we'd taken that decision to not just soft play but take care of the hotel too. Just feels like we have more control over proceedings.

Halfway Between London and Brighton

I had hotel meet Wednesday and fully expected to pay half

However he wouldn't accept it! ( being a gent I guess)

I did buy our half past midnight pizza though

Normally I'd expect 50/50 split unless as people have said he's Already staying there

I've paid for some and stayed in them.

I've had meets where the other has paid for the hotel room.

What im getting at I guess, who ever wants to pick up the bill really.

I've waltzed out of them and declared I won't be staying before

Really? Why?

Didn't fancy sleeping on my own. Bed was a bit damp "

Did you complain to the management about the damp

Can relate to this my last meet soaked the bed, I ended up on a slither of the bed the rest of the night

I absolutely want to go halves whatever the costs of a meet - be they a hotel, and/or drinks, and/or club entry etc. It actually makes me feel empowered - and therefore more relaxed - if we're meeting as equals because there's no lingering doubt whatsoever regarding one party having any obligation towards the other because they've been subsidised in any way. It doesn't mean I don't appreciate the gesture when others try to be genuinely generous and I'm pretty sure those I've met aren't trying to do that as some sort of hold over me .... but sticking to paying my way means I simply don't have to think about any of that stuff and can just enjoy myself!

I refuse to let a guy pay for everything for several reasons, but I am sad that most of them are surprised when I pay my share. Its the 21st century - if women want to be treated as equals we should contribute equally.

Personally, I prefer to go halves so that I feel the dynamic is equal. If a guy is staying in the hotel for business, I'll take a nice bottle of wine.

The cost of meet should be split evenly, taking consideration money spent travelling.

Ie. If one person's transport costs are considerably less than the others that person should pay for the hotel. That's how I work it out when my train ticket is the cheapest anyway

I think you should never assume that you don't have to pay anything, people have their own reasons why they might want to pay the whole amount. Couples should definitely pay 2/3s of the bill if it is split though, unless they want to be nice and and pay it all

If I'm away with work then it's paid for anyway so I wouldn't expect anything.

If we've arranged something ourselves then a 50/50 split always seems fair.

"I choose the hotel, book it, pay for it and I'm the only one who stays overnight...and I don't ask for a contribution. That way I host the meet and decide when the guy leaves. Works perfectly for me

It's all a bit like the following (from Hitch Hikers Guide to the Gangway)

"Bistromathics itself is simply a revolutionary new way of understanding the behavior of numbers, Just as Einstein observed that space was not an absolute but depended on the observer's movement in space and that time was not an absolute, but depended on the observer's movement in time, so it is now realized that numbers am not absolute, but depend on the observer's movement in restaurants.

The first non absolute number is the number of people for whom the table is reserved. This will vary during the course of the first three telephone calls to the restaurant, and then bear no apparent relation to the number of people who actually turn up, or to the number of people who subsequently join them after the show/match/party/gig or to the number of people who leave when they see who else has turned up.

The second non absolute number is the given time of arrival, which is now known to be one of those most bizarre of mathematical concepts, a recipriversexcluson, a number whose existence can only be defined as being anything other than itself in other words, the given time of arrival is the one moment of time at which it is impossible that any member of the party will arrive. Recipriversexclusons now play a vital part in many branches of math, including statistics and accountancy and also form the basic equations used to engineer the Somebody Else's Problem field.

The third and most mysterious piece of non absoluteness of all lies in the relationship between the number of items on the check, the cost of each item, the number of people at the table and what they are each prepared to pay for (The number of people who actually brought money is only a sub phenomenon in this field.)

The baffling discrepancies that used to occur at this point remained un investigated for centuries simply because no one took them seriously. They were at the time put down to such things as politeness, rudeness, meanness, flashiness, tiredness, emotionality or the lateness of the hour, and completely forgoten about on the following morning. They were never tested under laboratory conditions, of course, because they never occurred in laboratories-not in reputable laboratories at least.

And so it was only with the advent of pocket computers that the startling truth became finally apparent, and it was this:

Numbers written on restaurant checks within the confines of restaurants do not follow the same mathematical laws as numbers written on any other pieces of paper in any other parts of the Universe.

This single statement took the scientific world by storm. It campietely revolutionized it. So many mathematical conferences got held in luch good restaurants that many of the finest minds of a generation died of obesity and heart-failure and the science of math was put backi by years.

Slowly, however; the implications of the idea began to be understood. To begin with it had been too stark, too crazy, too much like what the man in the street would have said "Oh, yes, I could have told you that."

Then some phrases like "Interactive Subjectivity Frameworks" were invented, and everybody was able to relax and get on with it.

The small groups of monks who had taken up hanging around the major research institutes singing strange chants to the effect that the Universe was only a figment of its own imagination were eventually given a street theater grant and went away."

My question is this, for an hotel meet, who pays the bill? In a typical date, it's expected of the guy; but for swingers, is it any different? "

When my profile is on show, I clearly state that I only meet people who can accommodate, and that you are wasting your time contacting me if you are unable to do so.

I find that I get many men contacting me offering to pay for a hotel. If I was interested in meeting one of these men, I would not feel any need to contribute to the cost of the room.

If we were meeting a couple then we'd obviously expect to split any hotel or bar bill.

If we were meeting a single lady then we'd expect to pay for her but would respect her wishes, if she insisted on contributing then that's obviously up to her .

Croydon Area

We typically pay for a hotel for group meets if we are organising them.

We tend to seek those who can accommodate locally either at their homes or a hotel already. We've pretty much given up providing a hotel for meets with new people due to the volume of no shows/cancellations which became quite costly as it doesn't just stop at hotels.

If we are attending an event that requires us to stay in a hotel we try and arrange a meet whilst there that way it's not a wasted cost if it's a no show/cancellation

Happy to go half or we pay this time you pay next time with regular friends though

If someone expects to use the hotel above and beyond the meet then they'll probably stand more or all of the cost. But if it's a joint plan to book and use it, split it between the partners.

Who gets the frequent guest loyalty points is another matter.

Sure is....I'll even make you chicken fajitas.....if you buy the chicken....and fajitas!

Funnily enough i bought chicken before.. and i love mexican food.. should I just do the cooking?

I'm happy to cook for us....but if you insist!

I'll know its done right then :p

Hey! I'll have you know I'm awesome at emptying packets into the frying pan!

Old El Paso fajitas from a box are amazing! You gotta have all the accoutrements though.....sour cream, jalapeños,salsa, guacamole, cheese, tomatos etc.....

Damn I'm hungry now! Hurry up will you "

Creme freche is actually better to use, guacamole yes i make an awesome one! I tend to get sweet peppers, onions and do them with the chicken in the spice mix and some mexican rice and refried beans in too

"I choose the hotel, book it, pay for it and I'm the only one who stays overnight...and I don't ask for a contribution. That way I host the meet and decide when the guy leaves. Works perfectly for me "

Depends if you are planning to stay in the room overnight and just have a guest for a few hours. In that case you pay. If you are both only using the room to play then 50/50.

Haven't had a hotel meet so far, it's always been at his house or mine but if I agreed on a hotel meet then I would insist on paying half, I would feel more comfortable that way

"I don't expect anyone to pay for a hotel room. I do expect someone who doesn't accommodate to read my profile and not contact me,as I don't either, and don't pay for hotel rooms, at the moment.

I'm very polite in pointing this out, when asked if a hotel is acceptable. "

Same here XXX

West Wales

We are usually away for the weekend so would be paying.

If we were only using it to hookup though & it was split we feel 50/50 with a Singleton is not right so would only ask for 1/3 and only if they are staying.

your imagination

I've split, I've paid, and I've had a room paid for... Personally I'm more comfortable with a split.
