Yes I hope so too or that he still remains in motorsport. It's brought back some sad memories for me but also some grate ones.

by the big field

One of the worst crashes i've seen in 30+ years of watching racing, certainly on par with the Zinardi crash- which had a similar outcome.

Absolutely nothing he could do to avoid it- wrong place at the wrong time.

Truly horrendous, hopefully with his age he can have a chance to adapt and rebuild his life. Maybe use Zanardi as inspiration. Kudos to Jenson Button for the 15k donation as well.

Well over half a million raised so far. He is a top lad and has always been really popular in the paddock and he's got a great family around him. With the charity races lined up to raise more funds it will top a million by the weekend. He's awake, alert and already planning his comeback. Racers are a Different breed and if it isn't touring cars or sportscars with hand controls it will be the Paralympics just like Zanardi . Get your bets on now

Fundraising page was closed when the total got to 800,000. With all the extra collections done at various meetings since and the charity race the unofficial total is just shy of 1 million. He's already starting rehab although docs aren't keen as risk of infection isn't totally gone yet but Billy has decided he wants to be back in a car within twelve months as he has never gone more than one month without being behind the wheel since he was 8
