Heard about it. So I'd normally read the book first. It has me deeply troubled. As a young girl I had someone say we had sex, when we didn't even get close. His phrase exactly was "I blew the arse off her and she hasn't spoken to me since". This he told my supervisor in work. My boss told me and not in a pervy way. My sister put him in his place. And that was the end of it.

If I were an 18 year old nowadays. He'd have put that comment on Facebook etc. I'm not sure I'd have survived that.

It was a book about a girl who killed herself and left recordings giving 13 reasons why.

Think it's a tv series now as well.

I'm not sure that it won't boost teen suicides even if it's 'anti'

Yes, I watched it on Netflix, couldn't make up my mind about whether it glamourises suicide or not to teenagers

I watched it and will read the book. Very thought provoking in many ways in how one misconstrued photo or comment can make things spiral. To me it didn't glamourise suicide at all. It made me think what a waste but I'm not a teen.

This is a little like that kid recently. I think he was 11 and his gf was 12 or 14, where she got her friend to text him that she had died as a joke. In shock he took his life and hung himself not realising it was a prank. It was only reported a few weeks ago and it's being investigated and I'm not sure if any charges are being brought against either the friend or the gf.

It's sad but suicide exists and social media is only one factor. I am pretty sure each of us know of a kid that died too soon.

You can only guess why. I'd like to know why one freind did. It was well before the days of social media, if some one had known how low he had gotten maybe some one could of prevented him or tried to get help.

I loved the books and the TV show was done amazingly, Especially "tape 13"

very powerful stuff and it is a prime example of "the ripple effect" in today's society unfortunately.

truly an amazing programme and i think it is amazing that even the author is pushing for netflix to make a second series with their notes.

I loved it (the tv show). So well made and powerful. On one hand I thought I should be shown to kids in high school so they can try to understand the consequences of their actions... what seems little and irrelevant to them can have a huge impact on someone else's life. But i guess it's so powerful it could have a negative effect on someone struggling mentally, there'd be the risk of it being a trigger.
