The stove top is simple, but a pain (maybe I'm just inpatient). Shell out £20 odd for an Aeropress.

Depends on how far you're (she's) getting in to this whole coffee making business. You can pay a couple of grand for one. Oh, and it won't grind you beans either. You can pay a grand or so for a really top of the range grinder. It's all relative of course.

Hull but travel regularly

I have a delonghi cost about £170 I think. It's great for espressos which I love but for a longer Americano I personally don't see much difference with a standard cafetière. I've tried a nespresso machine and they're good in how easy they are but I can't say I've found the coffee for me in their range. My friends have a coffee machine far exceeds what your Mrs is looking at and it does most types of coffee but doesn't wash up

For that it would have to do all the bloody housework ££££

I have a tassimo. Cheap, cheerful and does the job. If it breaks it's £30 to replace.

If you have that kind of money to chuck around then go for it.

I can think of soooo many things I'd rather spend that kind of money on, but then again I don't have much money!

Salford Quays , Manchester

An old chef told me how to make excellent coffee.

Use ground coffee, and just brew it in a mug as you would tea.

When the water boils, wait 30 secs or so for the water to come off the boil.

If you use boiling water, you will burn the coffee.

Allow the coffee to brew for 2 1/2 to 3 mins, then add milk and sugar, if required.

I have a couple of Aeropresses (?sp for the plural of Aeropress) so I have one for home and one at my allotment. I have recently switched to using a Prexo expresso maker (which I think are only currently sold via Indiegogo) at home. The Prexo is a bit more work than the Aeropress but uses an increased pressure extraction and personally I find this makes a fuller rounded flavour.

We have a Nespresso that my friend gave me, we use it a lot. However we're both very fussy about our coffee and still say that you can't beat freshly ground beans brewed in a cafetiere. In fact we're drinking some now.

I don't necessarily think this is true, for what it's worth. I think it's all relative to your taste and interest. If you know what you're doing the equipment you use can make a lot of difference. Of course, if you're not that bothered it probably doesn't matter and won't be worth it

Obviously the more you spend on the quality of beans it will improve the quality of the coffee....but I'm using a £1.99 bag of beans and they taste the same as the £4 per cup in Costa Coffee but I get around thirty cups of fresh ground coffee for that

Haha. Millicano for instant. I've a stovetop for when I can be arsed. French press. Aeropress (my new fuckin gadget). And my Nespresso. It's a flipping joke.

I'm actually drinking more instant than normal as I can only enjoy a good coffee when with someone.

"I am a coffee machine. .

Of course I would. I can now make coffee 5 different ways in my house.

Nescafe...Kenco. ..maxwell house....millicano and camp coffee

Haha. Nescafé? Not in my house.

Haha. Millicano for instant. I've a stovetop for when I can be arsed. French press. Aeropress (my new fuckin gadget). And my Nespresso. It's a flipping joke.

I'm actually drinking more instant than normal as I can only enjoy a good coffee when with someone. "

Got all of them lol and there's not a chance I would have paid £500 for one.

But for what I got it for....which as around the cost of a pod machine. I'm well impressed with this for costs...taste and ease of use
