First off i'm not sure if you can buy them unless you lie about your age, but surely its daft because legally in this country you can have sex (male & female) if you are 16.. so perhaps if they allowed 16yr olds to purchase toys instead of finding the need to go out and have sexual intercourse the risk of teen pregnancy this country has might not be so high..
long shot i know but if i knew i could get a 'fix' without needing a boy/man at that age and was safer id be better off. |

its does seem abit backwards thats you can have sex at 16 . but not buy things to help you have better sex or watch people have sex on screen. Just shows you how some laws are stupid lol
Wouldnt suprise me if some under 18's buy stuff online and just lie about their age |

You can have sex at 16, get married with parental consent, but you cannot go into any legally binding contract until you're 18. You can't vote until you're eighteen, considered a minor until you're 18. Can't buy fags or booze either - sex toys is waaaaaaaaaaaay down the list of things I'd have thought!  |

I don't think, at 16 years old, a girl is having sex because she is horny, I think its because its new, its experimentation - 15/16/17 year olds are not fully in touch with their sexuality at that age and the hormones are really going ape shit |

thats the point i was hoping to make.. that its safer to explore your own body and experience new sensations using toys rather than involve a boy or man and risk pregnancy |

It always amazed me that i could have a baby be legally married at 16 with parents consent but couldnt have a library card until i was 18 |

Absolutely, and it's a very valid point to make. Her father died young last year, so I've sort of stepped in to the role. Thankfully she likes music more than boys (for now) |

Im quite sure any sixteen year old who wants a vibrater can by them. Maybe not legally in a shop but certainly online.
Call me old fashioned but whats wrong with people waiting for stuff. I never had heard of a vibrater until i was 21.
Young people have far far far more access to all types of education sex wise. In those teen magazines they tell them how to achieve an orgasm. Whats wrong with the tried and tested method we all had of good old trial and error.

The first thing i taught my son about sex was about emotions, relationships and respect. Hes with a lovely girl and i know at 18 and 20 they are experimenting sexually.

Because people who are having sex at 12 are having it illegally. Sixteen is the legal age to have sex. You have to be 18 to get in a swingers club, 18 to get into an adult cinema. Are you saying you would be happy for your daughter to have a sex toy at 12? |

no not at all. id like to think that id bring her up to respect the law and the consequences and responsibilities of sex... however id be happier knowing that if she truly felt the need to explore her sexual side that she would get that from a toy rather than intercourse.
at 12 im praying she'll be into music, dolls, school etc not boys! but i don't know what the future holds, puberty is starting younger these days.. and wit sex education being taught too children younger i think anything that could make it safer can only be a good thing.. never known someone get pregnant from a toy before |

in my eyes a 16 year old isn't a child. they are a young adult, higher education, marriage, sex, working etc

I was sexually active from a very young age, i cant really put much on here cause ruggers will tell me off  But lets just say being able to buy a sex toy would not have changed one jot of what i was getting up to |

perhaps in my mind i would like to think that if toys were available to 16yr olds that if it stopped one girl one night calling up the lad from over the road one night because she wanted some fun and she used her toy instead that it could have prevented an unwanted pregnancy.
i know its a long shot, but thats the point i was hoping to come across.
naturally id hope and pray that young people are being safe, but we know its not always the case. |

Maybe in a perfect world, but id be more concerned that they where taught about birth control and how to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies and diseases |
