ARGHHH! Made by agency VCCP. I hate their stuff. My only hope is it leads to a major new Masters of The Universe toyline...Mattels struggled with a major hotline barring Hot Wheels cars for years in the boys toys action figure market...

That said, it's only folk over 35 say who recall the characters...

They are even more irritating, when they are on internet catchup.

Eating my precious bandwidth, dowloading shitloads of unneccessary 360 footage (over 2mb/s connection) for a goddamned Honda advert...

Waiting ages for you to 'choose the ad you want to see'... (like I give a crap)

Taking the piss with a 'skip ad' button, just so they can show the same ad but with everyone skipping (not impressed).

Indeed! So many great ad campaigns to mention...another pair of faves of mine are the "This is the Man who..." VW Golf and FIAT Strada "Handbuilt By Robots"...

There's only ever 1 or 2 ads a year thesedays I really admire or engage with...

Heartily agree. Especially when you are forced to watch the vapid crap and can't skip it...

That's roughly what I meant...it has gone downhill in the last 20 to 25 years...

Old ones. Yes. New ones apart from the "Noityoulov" one and the men making the earth one of recent years, then no.

Exactly. I have noticed that PIFs are still going on in cinemas. It would be nice to see them return to TV in the evenings

They do show modern ones albeit very late at night on the #BBC and #itv...hardly helpful unless one is an insomniac! The Central Office of Information owned by govt is apparently the UK's largest advertising spender...ironic given PIFS are non existent in the public concieousness thesedays.

Yeah that is true. I have a DVD called Charley Says which has tonnes of PIFs on it including some of the memorable and somewhat scary PIFs as well

Central

I generally am not impressed with them.

If you are not the target being marketed to, then it's potentially a mark of a successful campaign if an ad leaves you cold - it was not meant to inspire you. It would have to have the opposite effect with their target customers though. Advertising should be being used to intelligently reach out to tightly defined market segments - it appears that I'm increasingly not one of them.

Probably because they're everywhere now and generally not where you want them apps, FB, Twitter etc

Back when 'bred werr bred' it was ITV ads and newspaper/ mags and really that was your lot, so they were a bit special. Bit like TV. We had 3 channels, then 4 then 5 but it still felt like an event. Saturday TV was a family thing. Now, in our house no one watches TV per say. Stream content and kids on phones.

Just changing demand.

Lots of adverts are purposely made to.be annoying so you remember them and.....talk about them, thus remembering the product

You know what I miss? The bloody awful Chatline ads you'd get late at night.

The one that always sticks in my head and makes me laugh is the Gay Exchange one were they were on those plastic 80s mobiles with the rubber antennas, and pumping weights with their free hand, cheesy smile plastered on their face

Everyone's a fruit and nutcase.

Most nowadays are forgettable. I agree op, very little effort now. They all relying on CGI or graphics. Back in the 70's 80's it was film making sometimes.

Ferraro Roche and Nescafé were dramas.

Secret Lemonade drinker was awesome.

Smiths crisps with the potatoes?

'We want to be Smiiiii-iiiths crisps, we want to be...'

Yorkie ads with truckers.

Citroen add with the car going down the steps 'not forgetting the powerful disc brakes' or the DS one with the self levelling suspension when they demonstrate the blow out at speed.

Also loved the Ki-Ora advert with the little boy and black crows!

Umbongo adverts were great too.

Also, loved the Smash instant mash adverts with the robots! "For Mash, get Smash"

Ariston always did a catchy advert too

Well the thing is this ... add agencies and their production teams may write and make the ads but what worries me is this ...What the heck is going through the mind of the executives in the company that ordered it when they give the agency their approval to accept it and screen it. A mystery to me I'm afraid lol.

In this modern age of smart tv's wouldn't it be great if the television knew when adverts were about to come on and automatically switch over to something else you'd rather look at. For example kittens playing with balls of wool or a scene featuring paint drying, far more entertaining methinks.

Most car ads are for left hand drive.. Promoting extras the UK.dont get.

All supermarket ones blur into one m&s alike.

And holiday ads... All same.. Filmed early with fake lights pretending its sunny.

And burgers/food.. Never looks like as when you buy it.
