I drove VW all my life - no such thing as a bad one, even the Horsebox started first time after 2 years idle!!
Had a couple of Fords now and they've been good too - my little Fiesta 125 Turbo is great fun! |

Worst was a Volvo 340DL, milkfloats overtook me! Best is just off to the scrappy tomorrow, a much maligned by the trade Renault Laguna Estate, but it cost us £440 four years ago and has cost us two tyres & an indicator bulb since. Now the dreaded Renault electrics have done for it. |

My worst ever car was a Ford Sierra. It simply refused to start on damp mornings. I absolutely loathed the thing.
My best car was a 1974 MG Midget (before they added those hideous rubber bumpers). I so regret selling it - for more than I paid for it, I hasten to add. |

Astra 1.7 cdti estate,or rather 'in a state!',got 5000 miles out of it luckily paid for work expenses, started cutting out, once a week then once a day, then every journey! Fault codes came up turbo overboost, googled them n common to spend ££££s n no better, eventually conked out n wouldn't start, garage reckoned fuse box ECU???? But couldn't be definite, still got it parked up,along with Astra Van that got to 170k before small hose near thermostat failed n blew engine, current van 55 plate Astra Van only 59k miles on it using blue one for spares was going to try get estate sorted but good £ after bad! |

I had a 131 Miafiori Sport, went like stink when it went, ended up a Flintstone car when my feet went through the floor one day.

Renault Megane. Utter junk. No matter what I did or who I took it to it wouldn't run right. It was also butt ugly and awful to drive.
Best car was an Alfa GTV 3.2. Wish I'd never sold it, they're rare as fuck and worth a fortune now. |

I've been lucky with the cars I have owned, none of them have been a disappointment or let me down. Motorcycles, they are a different matter. The two motorcyles that disappointed me most were a Laverda Mirage 1200TTS and a Honda Crosstourer. The Laverda blotted it's copy book when a valve spring broke after 10000 miles, which allowed the piston to clout the valves and resulted in a £400 engine rebuild. That was in 1984 and it was a months wages for me! It was just out of warranty but the importers couldn't give a monkeys.
I did get some payback on them though. I took one of their demo bikes out for a test ride and while out the engine let out a horrible death rattle under acceleration in second gear and died |

Worst car I ever owned was a Renault 5 GT Turbo, went like a rocket when it actually worked,it just didn't work very often.Spent more time working on it than driving it,eventually got sick of fixing it,dismantled it and sold most of the parts.
Worst van I ever owned was a Fiat Fiorino, bought it as it was cheap and I needed a motor quickly,it lasted all of two weeks before I scrapped it.Crap to drive, crap build quality, crap reliability, every aspect of it was crap.It was definitely a Fucking Italian After-Thought |

Had an old Renault 5...... used to eat clutch cables. Piece of piss to fix but annoying.
I did learn that you can actually drive most cars without ever using the clutch....it's just the starting from a standstill that's a bit tricky!
If you feather the revs you can change gear easily without clutching. |

"Noticing a distinct lack of of Japanese cars "
I had a Nissan cherry turbo for a bit. It had been chipped, re-mapped and had a larger turbo fitted. Stupid horsepower, weighed less than a shopping trolley and would eat the Escort and fiesta RS turbos that the boy racers of the day had.
It was madly dangerous though until I blew the turbo and the engine died in a ball of flames and blue smoke! |

I'm sure someone will be along to detail some from the 70's that rusted away "
The Nissan pulsar is a perfect example of the rusty ones are the best
Although not 70s.... |

Rover 75 diesel. Loved them for years, the shape, classic Brit look, great interior, BMW 3 series running gear - but just fucking awful as a package.
Nothing was easy to fix. Even headlight bulbs were a pain in the arse.
Gutted. |

Generally, my vans have all been ok... except this one Toyota Hiace that I bought on ebay. I drove it home about 100 miles and it was fine, the next day driving the 10 miles to work it died and never worked again.
Cars though, I've had a couple of crap ones. The worst would have to be a 1990 (ish) Ford Escort which I bought in a hurry after having my Fiat Uno written off in an accident. The most boring and uncomfortable piece of scrap I've ever had the displeasure to drive.

When I bought my a5, it drank around a litre of motor oil every few hundred miles. I complained to Audi, only to be told "it's the way you drive"
A few months later the car got recalled due to a manufacturing fault. When my car was returned it was beautiful but at first I hated the thing and looked at it like it had just spat at me |

Had a couple of meganes that blew the head gasket at 70k. But worst is a focus. Problems from the start and the customer service was non existent at dealer or manufacturer level.
But we all have individual experiences I guess. |

BMW 530D M sport. Did nothing but break down. It was the 3rd BMW I have owned and they were all unreliable. Put me right off BMW. Second on the list would be my old Jaguar XF 2.7d. It was a lovely car but it also cost me a fortune in repairs. A love hate relationship that car.
Best car I've owned would be between my old Mercedes CLK or mk4 Mondeo titanium x. Both were nice to drive and utterly reliable. The Mondeo is a hugely under rated car. |

The car we own now a 2006 2.2 Vauxhall Zafira. What a piece of crap it is. Only vauxhall can do the parts for it. I got a exhaust system made for half the price and then all the electric sensors decided to go woop were done.
We are running into the ground then it's going to the fire station for their training exercises. |
