Considering we have the ability to display our height in profiles, would it not be a good idea to also have the same with BMI (Body mass index).
I know people would probably not like the idea of displaying their exact weight considering it has the tendency to fluctuate from holiday to holiday, but BMI could however inform the person about the rough body physique you could expect from a another person.
(I know BMI isn't a perfect indicator of healthy weight/height ration).
This is meant as a discussion not suggestions.
For the more nosey people, I'm on the verge of being overweight. |

no it'd never catch on and is also open to abuse...I doubt anyone would be truthful unless they were within their BMI parameters |

This is basically what I came here to say.
BMI is bullshit and a lot of new research proves it (forgive me for not including sources, it's not my area of expertise!).
According to my BMI I'm obese, and ok I'm not skiny and I consider myself to be fat, but I'm not obese 
It doesn't take into account bone structure and density, muscle mass, or anything beyond height and weight. |

BMI is a nonsense, I read a piece about a female bodybuilder. She was petite but had muscles on muscles and yet was classed as obese. It's a maths formula that doesn't tell you anything useful, surely pics tell you what you need to know. |

I dont understand the point? BMI isn't an indicator of shape so wouldn't be any clearer than the current system.
If someone's shape is such an issue for you then ask to cam or have a social first.
I much prefer the get to know the person approach where the body shape doesn't actually matter though, people are much more than skin and bones! |

My bmi is non of anyone's business other than my Dr and my slimming world consultant. It's high, but I also have the highest level of fitness for a person of my physique. I train 4-5 times a week. I have a curvy figure. People want to meet me based on my pictures and personality which I hope comes across on my profile and messages. Why do you think a filter would be good? |

I know a weight lifter who's bmi says he is morbidly obese yet he works out daily and could deadlift two of you, but bmi on here he would get overlooked but pictures show he is ripped to fuck!

Displaying your bmi doesn't mean displaying your exact weight my bmi is 37.8.....other than telling you I'm classed as obese it tells you nothing more than my pics tell you. |

Interesting.... so my most recent squeeze would have a high bmi as he is a muscle man and rugby build.... my ex would have a low bmi but had a pot belly so bmi tells you nothing.
But in my case I'm a fatty with huge ass, boobs, wobbly belly but it states in my profile anyway and I kindly even say my size . No misunderstanding then |

To those who kept on topic, I wouldn't have imagined it to be so off the chart. I guess taking myself as an example which isn't far off (my BMI) isn't reliable enough to portray what it could be for others.
Answering other question, no the body size doesn't bother me so much. This was meant to be a discussion not a rant.

Your profile states 'Athletic' op, o people searching for a body type, whilst we don't have BMI, would probably not find you, if wanting someone who's borderline obese, as you describe yourself.
My personal trainer is BMI obese but actually is very muscular and lean. Use of that system got out of hand, from misuse and misinterpretation in the USA some years ago.
If anything, I'd adjust the labels that fab uses - as well as give guidance when users actually select them |
