I've not attended many wedding but I've been invited to one this summer. On the invitation it says they don't want a gift but wouldn't mind a contribution to their house fund as they want to buy their own place.

I was wondering how common this is?

Is the request for a contribution to a house fun or honeymoon fund a regular thing?

Or any ideas for wedding presents?

Thanks!

Some people do a list of what they actually want or need.

Its very common nowadays, a lot of couples already live together so they have all the traditional gifts already.

How about some high street vouchers? They can then choose what they want, and you aren't just giving cash.

Easier to wrap, too!

Just go cash! Minimum inconvenience and no thought what so ever. although does mean you will have to buy a card.

Haha! Great suggestions!

Love the butt plug idea! Maybe I could splash some more money and get it inscribed with their names and the wedding date haha!

And if you buy someone a present you want them to use it... haha!

How about a contribution towards their house fund like they've asked?

That seems the logical answer

It is very common, many couples already live together so they have everything.

Just give them what they've asked for, no point thinking of a gift they don't want. It also saves you a lot of hassle going out and buying something. And at on average £100 a head for your invite to their wedding reception, its the least you could do.

Question;

Being best man at a wedding later this year, is it still expected of me to add to their honeymoon fund, like they've asked in the invite? Haha

Buying a gift, arriving with it all neatly wrapped etc will only single you out to everyone as a cheapskate who bought a cheaper present instead of the money they asked for. Most people will just arrive with envelopes.

My sister is getting married this year and has asked for dollars towards the honeymoon. As people have said before they already have their own home and everything they need xx
