"They're discussing this on LBC at the moment.
Symptoms:
Erectile disfunction
Lathargy
Loss of libido
Depression
Don't know about you. But this just sounds like a case of shitmarrageitis.
"
It's no wonder men are known for not talking about problems when we are sympathetic to thing like the menopause in women but feel it's ok to take the piss out of the male equivalent |

I think it's inevitable some that men will hit a watershed around middle age. Especially nowadays when job security no longer exists, the traditional male role is changing and society still favours youth. I think it needs understanding rather then blaming their relationship. |

That's how us men get these things into discussion, with a little bit of banter. Many a serious debate on an issue has been brought about by someone cracking a gag about it. Quite often that how a lot of things get brought up. How many swinging couples have broached the subject by the old "eh wouldn't it be funny if" or half joking "bet you'd like my mate"

They're discussing how it can be a hormonal imbalance and seeking if it's a myth or a genuine medical condition. Interesting topic tbh. |

Your right, many a serious subject has been discussed using banter as an opener. The problem, in the original post, is that it comes across as dismissive, not a gateway to further discussion.

"So! I don't know if a midlife crisis in men is a hormonal thing or not but I do think that some men must question things around the 40 to 50 mark.
"
I don't know if it's hormonal either but I don't see why that might not play a part. I think many experience a revelation that they might not have ticked all the boxes they intended to, and the clock is ticking! That could lead to a change in behaviour which manifests itself as the male mid-life crisis. |

Most probably, and experienced to an extent by both sexes. Although I don't think the male 'menopause' should be compared to the female one as the physiological differences are huge. Sorry ladies.....it wasn't our idea, honest.. |

The physiological differences vary for women from negligible to massively life affecting, the worst cases are the ones that tend to get talked about. The psychological effects of realising that there's as much behind you as there is in front of you are probably similar for men and women. Some people will take it as a wake up call and some will be affected negatively. As far as we're concerned we woke up one morning and thought "sod it!"
