A self-proclaimed "grammar vigilante" goes out undercover in the dead of night correcting street signs and shop fronts in Bristol where the apostrophes are in the wrong place.
BBC video report shows the man on his Grammar Crusade....
Can the forum help track down this Bristol based individual?

I refuse to participate further on this thread as I'm paranoid that I'll make some sort of minor grammatical mistake that will be pounced upon by the smart-arses!

Actually, I can understand his initial frustration as when I see basic grammar errors it does irrationally get my heckles right up at times, but to go out in the early hours on a mission to fix them? Get a life mate.. |

When i had a job where i had to read a lot of literature from the local council, I made a point of returning it corrected with red pen...I resented someone telling me what to do when they were unable to do it coherently, while being paid twice as much as me to do the same job. |

"Can't Bristol council spell and use correct grammar?
Are they employing? "
It's more about private shops / signs rather than Council owned ones I think.
It's a guy doing it off his own back rather than a Council employee, to make himself 'famous' would be my guess, after all he obviously went to the Beeb with his story because they interviewed him |

Interesting. Lots of appreciation and then a quick back-peddle. Where were you between the hours of 2:00am and 4:00am last Tuesday? |

You hadn't participated at all until you did so you can't have had the opportunity to participate further anyway. |

"There's a couple of posts on here that have erroneously used hyphens!
The guy on the news was an apostrophe vigilante, maybe you could set up the hyphen division? "
I'm afraid I'd soon get fired for co-ruption! |

Better thing to do on fab than care that much about peoples spelling, most post quickly and dont always check that things are spelt that correctly. As long as messages can be understood then most do not see it as that big a problem. |

I think this bloke deserves a knighthood
Also banksy I'd grammatically correct and a total star. I queued with 10,000 to see his exhibition in Bristol museum
He put a rubber cock in the stalactites and stalagmites - true art |
