Don't even consider posting, because you're wrong

Trust me, I'm a homicidal maniac. Ok don't trust, just fear.

The best opening riff ever is......

Warren Zevon "Werewolves of London"

Sorted, job done. Time for bed Zebedee

Oh I agree with that. i think without each other they both would have done 'something', but would probably not be the legends they're revered as now.

Anyway we're veering dangerously off topic so I'll throw in 'what difference does it make' in answer to the OP!

Always overlooked on these kind of threads, one of the greats.

Nile Rodgers / Chic - Le Freak.

And his rendition of Let's Dance is awesome too.

For me (M) the opening riff to Coheed and Cambria Welcome Home is about as epic as it's gets. But I am a massive fan of them. The opening riff to American Idiot by Green Day is also one of my favourite considering the last year.

Yeah, he was a bit of a joker at school as well, was always into The Who though. Also at our school was Dr Alex Patterson who founded The Orb, but he was a couple of years above us

We only had Glenn Hughes at our school"

Of Trapeze, cracking live band with some good riffs, Way Back To The Bone comes to mind, ah that gig at The Marquee - sheer bloody arse kicking magic!!!

".... Also at our school was Dr Alex Patterson who founded The Orb....."

And with that, i shall throw in 'What were the skies like when you were young?' - the whole of LFC is pretty awesome (in fact, The Orb are one of my favourites all round), but LFC and Perpetual Dawn probably have the best intro that i can think of from their work

They played a tiny little nightclub in Cannock years ago, the original lineup with Geoff Downes from Buggles/Yes/Asia on keyboards...might not have been Dave Holland on drums, I think he might have already been sent to prison by then! Definitely Hughes and Mel Galley though.

It's not an opening riff but one of my faves is the second/main riff for The Prodigies My Law.

Plus that big booming drum beat and it's party time

That Marquee gig was the four piece version, after Mr Hughes had left, but while Mr Holland was still erm at liberty, lol. Heavy and funky, Mel Galley took the vocals if i remember correctly.
