BTW, how do you know that they didn't understand YOUR accent?
Once when I was in Scotland visiting a mate and Brookside came on. One person said, 'What the hell are they saying? I just can't understand that. Just what the hell are they saying?' Everyone else just shook their heads or shrugged their shoulders in agreement.
Made me realise that there will always be an accent that is difficult to understand.
That's the beauty of accents.

Even the difference in slang can be confusing. I only moved 5 miles from one region into another and theres times I dont know what people are talking about! |
