I'm generally asleep inside 10 minutes.
If I'm not then relaxing my breathing tends to help as it signals to the body that it is time to shut off for the night.
Although also helpful is not getting caught up with a film late at night |

Cold showers work well. Wake you up in the morning and cool your core body temperature at night so you sleep better.
Switching off from blue light radiation, i.e. Anything electrical for an hour or two before settling down. A routine.
Breathing out completely then in for four. Hold for 7 and out for 8 in a cycle. That might be the Weil technique referred to earlier.
Good luck! |

I used to do a little technique where I would count 1 (inside my head not out loud) as I breathed in and 2 as I breathed out and it helps to relax you and as you are only able to think of the 1,2 1,2 its almost becomes like a rocking chair for your mind.
These days I require very strong pain meds to knock me out |

the gym and random places |
I akways struggle to sleep. Have done for years. A lot worse since I moved here tho. Tried everything. Yoga nidra, relaxation music, eye masks, lavender, aloe vera plant, other sleeping oils etc and still vivid crazy dreams and wake up roughly every 30 mins. Would love at least 5/6 hours unbroken sleep |

I take painkillers to try and stop the pain, then I spend ages trying to get comfy.
Eventually I will drift off but wake up when the painkillers wear off.
I have tried lavender oil, sleep music, staying away from screens for at least half an hour etc. |

Oh and my phone goes on silent.
Being cuddled does help but that's not an option most nights |

Turn off any bright lights, devices and turn any clocks away from your gaze.
Lay in a comfortable position in bed, close your eyes and focus on your natural breathing pattern, and take ten deep breaths. While you are focusing on your breathing, try to let go of any tension in your body and relax your muscles. Think of a calming place to you, and continue with your natural breathing pattern.
Don't worry about sleeping, relax and let your body take over. |
