I hate the Been for purely this and its total inability to report on any sport other than football enjoyed by what they would deem the lower classes. We have world championship winning bike riders in WSB & 125Gps & they don't get a mention but Sarah-Tomkinson-Palmer-Fortisquies horse losing a shoe at Badminton is only second on the nine o'clock news to the Paris Massacre...

(Maybe a slight exaggeration, but you get the drift)

BBC does for comedy what the Fox network do for news

"Russell brand, Alan Carr and Peter kay for me

Just looked at the comedy gigs for my local venue and Russell brand is there 3 times in about 4 months

Awesome, I love Russell Brand.

Russell Brand told me I was funny when I met him. I think he meant like humorous. I can't be 100% sure though. "

Personally I disagree with a lot of the suggestions above, some great comedians listed who I've been lucky enough to see live. Comedy is such a personal thing isn't it?

My list of currently unfunny people: Lee Hurst (comeback show was awful), Lenny Henry, Sara Pascoe, Romesh Ranganathan, Richard Herring, Vic Reeves, Paul Chowdrhy, Noel Fielding, Lucy Porter.

"

I saw McIntyre just before he hit the big time and he was hilarious, but do find him a little reptative now...and never ever give him a chat show again please!"

I have to agree here. His early stand up is funny. Anything before he did his stint on Britain's got talent. Sadly he has become too 'samey' for my liking.

For me it all depends on what mood I am in at the time, or what show they are on.. Lee mack for instance. His stand up is crap, but I do find him funny on the 'lie to me' panel show.

I've never found chubby brown funny. Just saw him as an annoying twat.

Still think Eddie Izzard is still one of the best comedians I've ever watched.

"Tim Vine is just utterly cringy

That's my pick too - can't stand stupid puns, I like comedy to tell a story and be intellectual."

We like Tim Vine, one liners.

Story jokes are crap unless you can deliver them like Dave Allen or Ronnie Corbett.

Miranda - please give up

Plus pretty much all listed in this thread, apart from Peter Kay, who's had me laughing a lot. Jo Brand has also been great - but not on TV, she picked on me a lot when I saw her but in a good way

I think at some points, all the comedians mentioned have made me laugh, however as mentioned, regular tv/pay cheques can make for repetitiveness. I watched comic relief the other night and I can honestly say Vic n Bob doing the Stott Brothers was one of the most surreal things I've seen, and judging by the reaction they got, it was as for many, but I quite like that!

On a positive note my current favourites are Tommy Tiernan, Stuart Lee, Sam Simmons, and David O'Doherty

"

On a positive the Dave Chapelle specials on Netflix had me in stitches "

the dave chappelle netflix specials are epic... i watched both 3 times already....

have to say i didn't really get kevin hart for a long time either.....but his last couple of specials have been a lot better so I finally jumped on the bandwagon

michael macintrye is the one that i really dont really get why he blew up the way he did.....

for the people who said sarah millican... i think they are being a bit unfair as she has to santised herself for TV..... if you see her onstage she is a million times ruder than she is allow to be on the screen, and she is brilliantly crude and funny....

just look at other people's lists and the only one that comes up that i don't get is harry hill and lee evans... but thats a different kind of comedy i suppose...

most of the others i have had a chance to see in their natural enviroment (not on TV!) and the act they have for TV is a different one than they have for the stage, so i give them a pass...
