When it's time to move on!

When do you know it's time to move on from your job? I've become really comfortable and the thought of starting again terrifies me.

I've only been there two years but without tooting my own horn I have worked my ass off and seen no rewards. No pay increase, manager is horrible and I seem to work around the clock both at work and at home logged on. I'm not sure if this is just a general work thing and to suck it up but can't help thinking there's more else where!

Anyone been in the same position? Have you rode it out in hopes of it getting better or took the leap? If you took the leap - did you regret it?! I love the company but fuck me it's dragging me down a ditch!

I was employed and worked many hours etc.. poor bosses etc..

I'm now self employed. The boss is brilliant, the hours have increased, holiday and sickness pay doesn't exist ans if I decide to take a day off, the wage stops.

But I love being self employed.

I sacked in my job of 8 years.

It takes balls to do it, because I was proper secure in it.

My reasons for getting out were different to yours by the sounds of it, because I loved the company aswell, but I'd also (like you) had enough of working for someone else.

I miss the banter, our office was stuffed full to the rafters with hotties.

I always think that once you start questioning whether you should move on then you should. If it wasnt the right time then it wouldn't be in your mind.

Yeh, if it's a dead end look for promotion or places with room to move. Or maybe a job that will use one aspect of your experience more fully.

i've left probably ten jobs now, if i don't like a place, i go...it's a huge chunk of my life and i refuse to not enjoy it for the sake of just money, it's not worth it. i tend to get bored doing the same old shite week in week out for months, it's depressing, so yeah, i'm not good at sticking jobs out. bar one, i've been at my gig work for 17 years or so now...mainly because it's fun

leave dude...find a job you look forward to going into, otherwise what's the point?

I did a thread similar to you but you love the company i hated mine.

So i just fucked off after much deliberation.

Happier since i left now .

Lifes too short to be miserable and if you can change it for the better then change it.

Its a scary jump and takes you out of your comfort zone but its worth it.

I worked in the same job all my life, kept saying I hated it but was worried as I didnt know how to do anything else. Finally had enough a few years ago and had a complete career change and now couldnt be happier, it was a big decision but worth it in the end.

Good luck OP
