Could you live by and watch a child that is yours grow up without it knowing who you are ?

Could you stay out of how they brought the child up if you didn't like how they did things ?

I couldn't

And I'm sure there many other questions to ask and answer

Only you know your own mind

If you're seriously going to allow opinions expressed on an internet forum to influence your decision I would suggest giving the whole idea a wide berth

Id be asking more questions, if they cant afford ivf then whats wrong with sperm donation which is a lot less invasive, you cant really say you want it but cant afford it then say you want another man to shag you to knock you up.

I tend to agree

Why can't they get IVF on the NHS?

If they can't afford at least one round of IVF how are they going to be able to afford to raise a child for the first year, let alone the rest of its life?

It all smells a little whiffy to me???

Can you afford 18 years of child support payments and would you want to have a child yourself?

The fact is if you go through with it you are legally the parent and have all the responsibilities that go with that.

Is it just a breeding fantasy ?

I think nearly all NHS groups will offer at least one round of IVF for free. This course of action could lead to all manner of complications, think very carefully. IMO is your having to ask then there is doubt in your mind already so I would say no!

I'm pretty sure this happens all the time one way or another.

Personally I wouldn't want to be involved in this from either perspective but that's easy for me to say.

Think long and hard, what do you know aboout the couple, what do they know about you? What are their objections to the "turkey baster" method?

Probably best if they go to a sperm donation place. If you want to do however do it.

I agree with the general consensus. This is a personal issue between you and the couple. It has nothing to do with swinging or even sex. This is about creating a new life and the emotions/ obligations and consequences that surround it. Get some professional advice from people who are experienced and qualified to give it.

IVF isn't free to all. Postcode and age of the couple is a factor.

Asking people over the net is not a wise decision however I'll be the odd one out at 52 i'd say fuck it but you have to consider the parent and kid life.

Surrogacy is also a pretty commonplace thing now.

I'm not saying it is to be entered in to lightly. But it happens.

Fucking crazy idea.

You could have diseases or genetic abnormalities that could be passed on to the child for starters.

Never mind the usual issues that others have pointed out.

Never ceases to amaze me the stupidity of some people.

Yep and people usually say how unselfish the surrogate is. Admittedly the commitment of a surrogate mother is greater and sometimes she carries the genetic child of the "parents" but its still someone helping people to have a child who wouldn't otherwise be able to.

Said much more succinctly and clearer than my attempt

I am quite astounded by the lack of knowledge shown on this subject.

Go read about it people.

IVF isn't quite as simple as rocking up at the doctors and saying you can't conceive then being sent to the IVF clinic.

This, we're still waiting. 5 years after first asking.

If you're interested then consider it from the kids perspective. It's potentially a massive financial liability that you are opening yourself to.

Try visiting a professional venue as they may also assist with suitability.

If they are so keen for you then it won't matter if it's baster or sex - their pish for sex hints sexual fantasy etc

Except that I would imagine that you are far more likley to concieve through natural service than you are taking raw semen and putting it in a turkey baster.

Avoid like the plague. There can be no long term happy ending for anyone in this scenario.
