Perhaps give him the choice of whether he'd be happy if you added someone else to the equation?

You posted about what to do as it was your first meet. Your status is about been excited about it.
Meet the guy you have arranged to, the other one can be planned for another day.
Otherwise you might be running before you can walk and also messing your first meet about as it isn't what you have planned.
