How annoying is this? Not that I'm checking on them or anything but if it's a long term contact who has branded the phrase 'we are friends' about then ignores your message its so infuriating..... |

Well I don't know about your friend but sometimes I'll have read a message and then real life comes calling before I can reply. I'll reply when I can, unless I don't want to, then I won't |

I think of it as similar to being at a party. My friends might be there but I don't expect them to interact with me all evening or stop a conversation with someone else because I have something to say. |

This is why I periodically clear my friends list of people who haven't messaged me in the last X months.
Why do you want to be friends with me if you are going to make no effort to keep in touch?
Maybe I'm out of touch with social media, but I fail to see the point of having a list of 'friends' stretching into the thousands... |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Are these 'friends' people you have met (not just the OP but others posting about 'friends')?
Lots of people send friend requests on here just to see your photo gallery. That's not a friend.
Some are people who are on your list to make it easier to find them to message them. That's a penpal.

You're definitely checking on them OP
I'm terrible for doing this.
The main reason is i can't quite be arsed getting into conversations at that point.
I'd rather reply when I'm going to be interested in actually talking to people. |

If you are busy watching cams in the chat room you don't see messages coming in ... Then if you have to run I just close and run ... Told off already.
It's worse on mobile interface in fact. Plus that is really strange as the videos appear in more than one chat room ??? |

somewhere down the rabbit hole, Aberdeen |
I'm pretty much logged in all the time but not active all the time. I might show online but I'm at work, talking on the phone, walking the dog, cooking, shopping, washing my car, in the pub.... when I am on here I use the forums also so not always checking my inbox.

There is a time lag on this site. Often people I message appear online but when I check they were on line minutes before I sent the message. Yes that can be frustrating but it just IS. |

"Lol walk a day in my shoes on here when you get 1200 messages then complain.
Just saying. "
Anyone who complains about getting a tonne of messages can always turn filters on if it annoys them that much |

As has been said before, set your filters then if you truly think it's something to complain about.

I get people stressing when I don't reply - usually those who I don't know.
But there's no guarantee I'm around when it looks like I am and I give no set response time. People wait 4 hours for a bed in hospital, so that's a bigger priority Imo.
Friends and family can contact me more quickly but it won't be on fab |

I log into the forums then go do stuff, then come back do a refresh see if anything has happened then wander off. Think that fab shows me as online all the time even when I am not in the same room. |

I thought you were just ignoring me.
I'm the same. Perhaps we should set response times?
