On the bbc l, there has been recently some discussion around the racial undertones of swing low sweet chariot.
Now whilst I didn't know this, I am not surprised that the song itself had links to the slave trade that occurred and the Underground Railroad in the us
Now there has been some statements that from certain corners that this song is also a funeral song and should not be sung.
For me, I would associate with rugby,( and I have head it at football but not as much), though along with abide with me be on my funeral songs list.
What do people think, and do people think there is a certain sense of pc-Ism associated with this or is this truly something that we should stop, or could it be used to educate people about slavery and the Underground Railroad
