While the world is modernising quicker than most can keep up with are you the kind of person who has to have the latest gadget/look/car/decor or do you swim against the tide and try to go the other way?

This week I'm removing a modern kitchen and replacing it with "upcycled" 20+ year old units.

It feels wrong but I like it!

We're a mix of both. I think most of us are. I don't think it's sensible to turn ones back on all modern technology because most of us need to function in the current world.

Some people continually chase the latest thing, but seem to forget the things that actually make us truly happy.

I'm definitely swimming against the modern trends in motoring...

A 13yr old 2.0 diesel for coming to work in and a 16yr old 3.0 V6 petrol for pleasure

Up yours, hybrid blumotion bollox

My kitchen is about 20 years old. I didn't realise that means I'm fashionable.

I just get new stuff when the old one breaks.

I'm cheap as shit too.

Seriously though. I re-use and up cycle. I also build my own furniture from reusable timber.

We have new items because they are needed and not because its fashionable.

We have a new car because we need a reliable, decent car for journeys to work and with safety features to keep our family (and us) safe and also because its less polluting to the enviroment.

We have a modern kitchen because the old one was falling apart, the fridge stopped working etc.

We have modern phones because we need to be able to access the internet frequently and have a reliable phone to call and text people on plus we frequently use the camera on our phones to get pics of our gorgeous grandchildren.

None of them are for fashion but plain simple need

I cam keep up but have good enough taste and sense with my money. So new and shiny for the sake of it doesn't get purchased. And Alexa etc is undesired
