Yes indeed. I might worry where my teenager is if I haven't had a call or text for the evening, but a grown man on a forum, hardly my business ...."
But it's nice to know that people around here care for others well being.. it restores your faith in humanity.. |

"Gaelic?"
It is still one of Scotland's three official languages (the other two are English and Scottish Gaelic), but because it is mostly mutually intelligible with English, it's sometimes regarded as a dialect of English or slang. There is no consensus among language experts about what constitutes a language versus a dialect. |

Well that IMHO is your choice and your loss. Being "down with the Kids" has its plus side.
That's like saying was you taught to be promiscuous at school? I know I certainly wasn't, it was considered morally wrong but hey ho here we are, shit evolves.

It's pretty much why I avoid the Scottish forum. I understand slang. I don't think there's any harm in speaking in your own local accent.
I have an issue when that's transferred to the written word so I tend not to read it. There just doesn't seem any need for educated people to type like they're uneducated if that makes sense.
Time change, we can't deny that but we can refuse to follow the herd. |

There are some notable people who left late last year who I miss, but wouldn't post mourning them. There are also a few leavers I would love to celebrate, but don't.
Usually my memory is so bad I don't even notice they've gone before the inevitable 'I'm baaaack. Did you miss me?' posts. |

Aye we"d all still be communicating in Shakespearen if kints didn't break away from the 'herd' anyhow it's how I like to chat and the way a talk and that's that.
Only in the forums or by pm as well because your profile is not written how you speak on here.
Tbf shouldnt be discussing anyones profiles on a thread, I feel pretty strongly about that. Tbh my profile doesn't say much, yes I guess am blessed I can alternate between the two methods of English/Scottish verbal and written communication and speak several other languages to boot.
And your point is caller?
I was just curious why you write how you write on the forums compared to how you have written in other places on here. I didn't actually comment on what was written in your profile
Am a million different people from one day to the next, I just do what I want, when I want, don't try and understand me am an enigma. "

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
"I guess given the obituary-esque mourning threads and 'hope they are okay' 'I've been in touch and their fine' pointless melodrama when someone leaves, it was only a matter of time before people started posting threads about people not posting for a while...
There are some notable people who left late last year who I miss, but wouldn't post mourning them. There are also a few leavers I would love to celebrate, but don't.
Usually my memory is so bad I don't even notice they've gone before the inevitable 'I'm baaaack. Did you miss me?' posts.
Did you miss me?"
Yeah, it doesn't help when I have no clue who they were in previous life either. |

"It's pretty much why I avoid the Scottish forum.
